So do we know if the points giving has been stopped or not?
Also does anyone know where on the machine you put your clubcard I couldn't see any where on ours although havent been for a while.
I live nxt door but 1 to a pub and they have massive bins full of empty bottles would it be wrong/ilegal to sneak over to them and take a box full to get the points?
Ps. my local tesco with auto sorter is Horwich (bolton) as it wasn't on the list0 -
I have just been on to Tesco and they now do not give points for using there recycling machines, after there resent highly publicised use of the machines where a couple came back off honeymoon it seems the offer has been phased out, not bad though, Ive seen pepole deposit cans and bottles then go into Tesco for cigs, milk, petrol etc some of these pepole have actually driven over 4 miles out of there way passing local shops and council run recycling bins to get to Tesco, who will not be complaining as they will be getting approx £450 per tonne just for aluminum cans plus the other items0

Seemed a bit ironic to me that supposed "green points" were converted to air miles, not the most environmentally friendly thing...Remember, you are stuck with your debt if you can't budge it.0

Come off it - why are we all logged in to this site for Tesco Clubcard Points - to see if there are any extra codes etc going around so that we can get extra points! These codes are only meant for the recipients in the first place so condemning those for cutting up plastics etc is wrong. Good on the couple who went round collecting other people's rubbish - we have had three cruises, one holiday to menorca on its way and other trips out of recycling our rubbish and collecting others along with my weekly spend on shopping! We have filled up a passat estate car with our recycling on previous occasions and have gone along at 4 in the morning - sad some people might think but not so when I have enjoyed so many holidays etc with my points. So what if people do cut the items up Tesco make enough profits out of us in the first place. I have also been advised by Tesco that they are beginning to phase the recycling scheme out gradually as they have too much trouble with it and the machines don't always record the points. Has anyone noticed now they have changed the points allocation 1 for every 2 ali cans that the queues have gone! P.S.0

A few years ago scouts used to get a penny a can that was collected for recycling. Given the price rises in energy you'd think it might go up a bit as one of the biggest costs in aluminium cans is the amount of energy used to extract aluminium cans from ore.0

people abuse the syetm by cutting items up to get extra points and this is 1 of the reasons why tesco have decided to remove the machines from the stores, the change in points happened ages ago0 -
I'm really confused by this, my husband and I just put in over 50 items - only those listed on the machine, including over 20 cans and we got 2 green points. I would like to contact Tesco, to find out more but can't find an email address - does anyone have one?
Thanks in advance.0 -
Used this for the first time last night, in the dark & the rain; it was all a bit surreal with it talking to me and encouraging me to come over and try it (oo-er...)
I put 47 items in, a fair few of them were drink/cans and a couple of glass items. It offered me three points & then told me my key fob wasn't registered (which is twaddle) so that was the end of that.
It does at least take the plastic milk cartons & shampoo/detergent bottles that my local council has now decided it doesn't want, so I will keep using it. I do take on board a previous poster's point about using energy to recycle being a bit pointless but my guess is that unless they employ legions of people to crush everything by hand then at some point machines will have to be used.
Anyway, I have to admit to being childishly excited by all the lights & dropping stuff into the front & little doors opening that reminded me of the Starship Enterprise & then it disappearing into a sort of rotating hopper system & all the clanking, whirring & crashing it does as it mashes everything up, before your very eyes (or ears, anyway)... it's a proper honest-to goodness clunky machine & I can't wait to show my son.
You're right, I haven't got out much lately... :rotfl:0 -
