I've posted this on the small Mint thread too, I thought that starting a new thread as well might reach a bigger audience as it were, I hope that's okay.
I recently claimed £140 from Mint, not much really compared to other claims but as I had all my statements I thought I'd just add up the charges and send the claim.
They have replied today with the standard letter offering me £42.40. I just called them to decline their offer but mentioned that for the sake of an extra £100 I would be happy to settle i.e. the full amount.
The person who I spoke to wasn't, of course, the person who sent the letter and told me that it was their final offer. I then explained that I would expect them to say that in the hope of putting some poeple off the court stage but I wasn't one of them and wouldn't it make sense for them to cut their losses and pay up rather than be landed with my full claim plus interest and claim costs. He wouldn't budge.
The letter also said that Mint thought their charges are fair, reasonable and transparent so with that in mind I asked him to explain how the £12 charge is apportioned with regard to costs and he blustered about phone calls, letters, the OFT ruling etc.
After I'd pointed out the OFT ruling was merely to establish some consistency across the board and at no time had they ever said it was fair, he admitted that he couldn't tell me how the charges were costed.
So much for transparency!!!!
Here's a question, should I go straight to the court claim, send them the 14 day notice of court action letter or try to phone again and try it on with another person (because you never speak to the same person twice).
Opinions gratefully received.0 -

Thinking about it i bet they owe me a fair few pennies.
Hi!
I've claimed off Mint and got the full amount back successfully.
It did go to court stage but as soon as they got the notice from the court that I had filed a claim, they sent me a cheque in the post for the full amount + interest + court costs.
Go for it0 -

I'm about to file a claim, which address did you use for Mint. Their registered address is in Scotland so did you use the P.O.Box 6050, Southend instead?0 -
Hi
I wrote to Mint at the end of March requesting £652 back. I received a letter at the beginning of April offering me £188 which they said was the difference between the amount I had been charged and the new amount of £12. I wrote back on 10 April saying I did not think this offer was reasonable, and if I didnt hear from them in 14 days I would go to court.
I have today received another letter from them offering £188 again. they are re-iterating that this is the banks final response to my claim and that if I am still dissatisfied, I should refer my case to the financial ombudsman.
What should I do now? should I just continue with the timetable and do MCOL, or should I contact the ombudsman? What do you think?
Any ideas / opinions welcomed!

Hello
can anyone tell me which address I should use when completing MCOL. My claim is against Mint, which is a business linked to the Royal Bank of Scotland. There is no Mint address on the help thread, and Im not sure if I should use the customer service address, or the RBOS one?
thanksSealed Pot no 20110 -
You can't use a Scottish address on MCOL so use the Southend address.0

hi, i am well annoyed now, sent a letter to mint over 40 days requesting statements, followed up with a letter saying you have not replied they still have not replied does anyone no the phone number of Mint.
Also i sent a lsit of charges to Halifax recorded delivery on the 10th April,as yet they still have not received or signed for it. Do i send another letter (copy) or wait. And last American Express have not replied either to my letter threating to take them to court there date was up on the 14th. Do i ring them up and ask them whats going on or just proceed with court action. I'm only asking for £160.00 not much i no to them but to me it is.0 -
