Yes, renting is not dead money, it's money well spent.

Hmmmmmm, yes I see their point of view now ...... rent for the rest of your living months .... or .........

Buy and clear mortgage within 10 years .... the rest of your life can be spent buying beautiful cars and playing on the stock market, making even more dosh .........

The inclusive view would be TO RENT!!!

The real clever view is - I'm buying and living life free of payments in 10 years time!!

Me too, but I didn't fancy getting the last 2 inches chopped off so I decided to leave it as it is.

I found that folding it in half was less drastic.

Holy Cow .... he has been buying someone else's house for all that time?? No ... really??

All that money wasted ..... no wonder he hates me, someone who had made every penny work for him and turned pennies into pounds!!

Him and his 'clan' of sockies can't take it ... it is sad though - yes, let's be inclusive .. tee hee ......

Well I dont know exactly how long, but as he's nearly 40, I'd guess he has bought his landlord a house in its entirety, maybe twice over - not sure how the Edinburgh graph looks over 15 years or more.

What I am saying is that we should take pity upon him rather than mock him and offer advice and guidance to help him reach his aims.

I see ... we really shouldn't take the mickey out of a 40 year old who has been so generous as to buy 2 whole houses for their owners, clearly the mind of a simpleton ...

Re buying or renting and dead money or not .... I can afford to buy a 3-4 bed detached house in my county - with a huge choice of these, hundreds to choose from.

    But I can't afford to rent a 1-bed house.

I've just spent over £ 2.5k  on my A8

New Cambelt, waterpump, alternator clutch pulley, belt idler tensioner, 2 new tyres and front ball joints.

......and that was with labour only costing £25 ph

    Bloody German Crap !!!!!

You need to stop going to a main dealer purch. I got my new cambelt fitted on my Audi for £275 by a local mechanic (I think they run about £500 to £750 at the main dealer depending on whether they are running a special).

Audi: "its a big job, we have to take the front off"
Local mechanic: "we do loads of those on Audis and VWs, its a really simple job, pop the front off, which is a simple job, and you're there".

Makes sense ..... why rent for the rest of your life, when the same amount each month could have you debt free in 10 years?

    Bonkers to think otherwise ....

Also, if you are renting at £1,000 a month - the only way that can make sense over buying is if house prices are falling at MORE than £1,000 a month .............. which they will never do!
