Fantastic cars the MX5 ..... they are certainly the bargain weekend toy.

12 years old would make it the last of the Mark 1's? Maybe a Berkley SE? Or it could be one of the early Mark 2's?

Mk2, not as pretty as the Mk1 but a bit more comfortable.

Have driven it from Kent to N Yorkshire and back a few times with no bother.

So the headline is basically "people who buy expensive brand new cars lose a lot of money". Not exactly news.

I'd heard there is no charge for gloryholes.

As with so much in life, it can depend which side of the deal you are on.

I have found a way of making my penis 12 inches long.

Me too, but I didn't fancy getting the last 2 inches chopped off so I decided to leave it as it is.

I've worked for several fleet lease companies in the past, and analysed data for several hundred thousand vehicles.

Believe me, our anecdotal stories may cast doubts on the official figures, but they know EXACTLY how much it costs to run each car. There are depreciation profiles for every aspect of the car, from tyres to maintenance to In Car Entertainment.

The same holds for reliability figures too. You may be the 1 in a 100 person who never had their Renault Megane break down or show any fault, but you have to look at the data from hundreds if not thousands of cars to get a true picture.

There isn't a lot to be gained from anecdotal evidence, even the MrRee Aston Martin which he bought 'nearly new' from a certain Mr Bond ;)

The Aston is old, a DB7 Convertible, not bought from a Mr Bond - however.

And, anyone who buyers a French car is asking for trouble ... there is enough data out there for the majority to buy Japanese.

My car cost £461 to buy 4 years ago, insurance is less than £30 a month, tax £118.25 per 6 months, repair costs have averaged £250 a year over the last 4 years and fuel costs of approx £80 a month.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

french cars aren't that bad ( although maybe new ones are from Coventry)

had a couple of biggish citroens in the 90's (a bit troublesome, but comfortable, cheap and they were old) , these days my last 4 cars have been smallish new/nearly new peugoets ( been ok to date, better than rovers I had inbetween) although throughout this time I've always had a"plaything" old Jag, MG ,.. currently a Jeep

You're right there .... last Sunday I looked at a Jaguar XKR to add to my collection, as cheap as they have ever been.

This is seriously cheap:- http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201130406056081 you can also easily get 10% OFF this screen price.

Of course, it would have to be a plaything - but, they are remarkable bargains ..... plenty out there very, very, very, cheap.

Hmm, not sure I would call that cheap......

Never found French cars to have that 'buy me' factor, I had a thing for Italian cars for a bit, but my depreciation semed invariably to run at about 100% after 4 years or so (i tend to buy @ 3 years old)... they are just not built to last, or maybe I was unlucky.

Went Jap with a Celica, and now a Mazda MPS... think I've been converted, they just seem to work.. fancy a GTR next, but that might be a bit too scary. (and possibly not very money-saving)
