Would you sell DD's old toys on ebay for new ones for Christmas?

You were though.
Indirectly.
You were using her money to pay for your obligations.
(By 'obligations' I mean you needed to buy her presents for Xmas so by using her money, you didn't need to use your own.)
I realise you genuinely don't see this as a problem but I'm not sure you're seeing this clearly.
I'm really not am I, but I do openly admit it.
She now has the money and so will decide from the list what she wants to order herself - who knows it might be what i would have ordered anyway (and hopefully not the 2 that are on the way here from good old amazon...). She said when they come would I wrap them up so she still has them to unwrap (I think she is hoping she will forget what she's ordered....) and doesn't use them before christmas.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
Because I was getting her the items off her list (not them all as it defeats the object of giving more on a list than what you get - if that makes sence).
So now money I would have spent on her Christmas presents will be used to cover the cost of what i've ordered on her list.
This means things I had planned on getting her I can't. She still has lots of nice presents and I'm not on here regarding 'oh i ca't get this that and the other' I was just enquiring if other people do sell items to replenish at christmas.
It is something we have always done, and it always good to get other views, whether you like them or not. That's the beauty of this site.
i don't need to tell her the total as she goes on ebay to check the items and get postage info to send her items out. She just saw a lot had ended today and that was where the discussion started. it wasn't a big secret. She had an idea of costs so she knew roughly what to put on the list.
but if the money was going to pay for those gifts, then she can still get them because shell be paying. or what you would spend on her can be spent on those gifts and she can buy others.
i think the problem is you started off mentioning your financial situation (half pay etc) but now your saying that it doesnt have anything to do with it, so if thats true, why mention it? it just confuses matters.
im glad your not selling your dds belongings to buy her gifts from you though - that would be beyond scummy.:)Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

So you haven't bought her a Xmas present yourself then? She's bought her own, in effect?Herman - MP for all!0 -

No dsm, for once I don't think it is. :rotfl:
(The 'for once' bit was tongue in cheek)

It's ok, it's how I first made my original post. I'm like that in real life too!
Yes she can still get the gifts, but I think she didn't want to know what she was getting. I've already ordered some, so i'm planning on not telling in her which and hoping she picks the others....
The thing with my half pay was I trying to say (not very well) I have money to buy her christmas present with and know what i want to get her, but now i've ordered some off her list thinking the ebay money would cover it, I will now be using my money aside for christmas and as I'm on half pay i can't make it up any way. Even that doesn't make sense, so I think I give in......Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -

You beat me to it, I've added I have ordered some. Well 2, so she has 8 to choose from, hopefully not the same.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -

easily solved then - send back/cancel the ones that youve ordered from her list, and get her what you were planning to get her originally. simples.
then she wont end up with two of anything, and you both revert back to your original positions and all is right with the world!:THi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

She has christmas presents off me. Separate to this. I also wanted to get her some more (i'm quite organised and have the majority already) but know what I wanted. (she's asked for a PS and I've been indecisive for a while, she never touches the WII but I've decided to go for it......)
The presents off the list would have been wrapped and given for christmas. However she asked for this, she didn't want to pick them herself. She will be now tho (hopefully not two i've already got) and they will be wrapped so she doesn't use them.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0
