Barclaycard 11% cashback application problem

Just a follow up to my post #71 to say, received a letter the day after the card to explain as I had 2 cards registered with Barclaycard they could only give £250 credit on this one. Phoned and spoke to customer care who were uncaring but put me through to card activation who were very helpfull. They cancelled my gold card (which I cancelled 6 months ago) transferred the credit limit onto the platinum card, did the £100 transfer from my mastercard and confirmed the 11% cashback would be given on all purchases until 31/12. Took 35 minutes cost £2.60 in transfer fees but well worth the call.0

Interesting to see a response from Barclaycard - I think it is helpful to have a clear acknowledgement of the issue, and what the formal position of BC is.
No doubt we'll come back to this in January and February when the 11%'s are due to be paid. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth is some cases, I suspect.
In the meantime, the terms of the 11% are still on their website - a copy and paste into your own document - just in case, you understand - might be advisable:

I applied on line on the 19th. I have a screen shot which indicates the date and the Barclaycard URL and the content which says "Get 11% back on spent until the end of the year...". I even phoned on that day to ask if the offer was still available and I was told that it was. I usually take screen shots every time I purchase something over the internet.
If they had told me it wasn't available any more I would have applied for a different cash back credit card. It was only when I received the pre-contract agreement (6 December) and phoned because there was no 11% mentioned that I was told the offer ended on the 18th of November. It's too late now to apply for a different cash back card before I do my Christmas shopping. I've sent in a letter of complaint with the screen shots I took, so hopefully Barclays will do something to make sure this sort of thing doesn't happen in future.0 -
I managed to contact someone from Barclaycard via the e-mail address given by the Barclaycard representative who kindly posted in this forum. Since initial contact on Friday, I have had 2 seperate responses from web relation managers, neither of whom have been able to update me on the status of my application. To say that I'm frustrated would be an understatement. Is anyone else still waiting for the status of their application and their card?0

Did you write them a letter instead of email as mentioned by yourself previously? I am also waiting for a reply for another platinum card which I applied on 16th Nov. Not sure whether I should try to send them a letter or not as it might be the same situation.
Written an email to them already, which just came back with a number that I have called previously and told them in the email that I have done so as well. How very helpful barclaycard customer service is.0 -

Bearing in mind this was a limited time offer, so speed was of the essensce, I thought the only way I was going to get a quick reply was e-mail. I therefore didn't write a letter - by the time I'd had a response the offer would have gone. I quoted my application number and explained the situation and a couple of managers have contacted me via e-mail, but still no update.0 -
Like others I applied for the 11% cash back card and the web site crashed at the final stage of the application so I phoned Barclaycard and they confirmed they had received the application. After 10 days they provided my new card and eventually a pin but no mention of the cash back. I called them again but this time I was told that the card I received was not a cash back card at all it was some other Platinum card. Luckily because it was so late arriving I have only spent £12 to-date so will cancel it next month and stick to my Amex Cash back.0

I have just emailed the customer relations email asking for confirmation i qualified as upon email customer support yesterday i received an email to say that i applied on the 21st and the offer was withdrawn on the 18th (although my application form clearly still stated the 11% cashback).
Currently awaiting a response0 -
I applied for the same card as everyone else here quite a while ago, and also got the same result as the OP in this thread. I was accepted for a different card (19.9%, no mention of cashback, etc).
The card took a long time to come through (only came about a week ago) but I have received a letter from Barclaycard saying something along the following lines (can't find the letter for the exact wording right now):Dear Mr xxxx
We would like to apologise for the delay in sending your Barclaycard Platinum card to you recently. This was due to a technical problem. We realise this means you will not have been able to take full advantage of the cashback offer which ends on 31st December 2011. As a goodwill gesture we will apply a £100 credit to your account. Remember to qualify for this offer you must make a balance transfer to your account of at least £100.
And so on.
I am pleased, but totally confused, as I didn't even think I was getting any cashback offer with the card I was accepted for. Has anyone else had this letter?0 -

I haven't had the official letter yet, but I have had a phone call from their web relations department to say that I'll be getting the letter and the £100. I managed to get in some dialogue with them via the contacts they gave on this forum - it was refreshing to speak to someone in the UK with some inkling of what was going on! I still haven't received my card, but it appears there's some 300-odd customers whose applications got stuck in the Barclaycard system somehow. No-one seems to truly know how or why it happened, but they've commited to resolve it by giving all these customers, whose application has belatedly been accepted, £100 credit (equivalent to the cashback they would have earned).
Fair play to Barclaycard for sorting it out at last, just a very frustrating process for all concerned in the run-up.... hopefully they'll learn from it in future.0
