  • After reading the article in This is Money, I sent a secure message to Barclaycard asking if I was part of the 11% cashback offer, only to receive:
Thanks for your e-mail regarding Cashback.

Upon checking the records I can confirm that there is no cashback on your account

I hope this information is of help to you.
Wow! No. That is not of help to me.

Rang up the call centre today where a robotic-sounding lady confirmed that I do have the 11% cashback after all. Talk about mixed messages! Think I'll be leaving once I get my cashback.

Does anyone know when the 11% cashback will be paid to the account?

    From the T&C's:

"All cashback earned will be credited to your account before your February 2012 statement..."

Just checked, mine has been credited too (although I had already paid off the full balance ... hmm, better get spending!)

N.B. that my application went in on 22nd November, after their supposed 21 November "cut-off" date (but while web-link to the 11% cashback offer was still active ... )

  • £100 cashback went into my account yesterday, probably time to ditch and move to Capital One now as the Barclaycard has little benefits.

My £100 cashback now arrived; they also promised me another £100 because of their delays - now that will be interesting to see if they honour!

The wording of their letter (written before I had spent anything on the card) reads: "as a gesture of goodwill, we're going to credit £100 to your account before your February statement".

This "gesture of goodwill" clearly must be in addition to their contractual obligation to pay me some cashback. (It just so happens that the cashback is also £100.)

Hmmmm - it might be the 'before your Fabruary statement' part that is new - i.e. they will pay the £100 early, not that they will pay an extra £100.

    But you never know...:D

Got my £100 - as noted above no real advantage to continuing with them, and having got the taste for credit-card tarting, probably time to move on to Capital One. :rotfl:
  • Also received my £100 today. Does anyone recall if there is an ongoing smaller cashback on this card (says nothing in the t&c). I got an email about collecting freedom points which you have to register for, so that might be all thats going. Otherwise it may be better for me just to stop using and cancel after a few months.

I did get some 'freedom' points - pounds in fact - from using the card to get my car serviced/fixed with Halfords Autocentre. Some £11.26 for £563 spend (ouch - but it was a lot including new tyres and brakes pads/dics etc) - I make that 2%, which is not bad.

I think that's about it - it's retailer specific and in most cases, nil. Details on their website, I guess.
