Barclaycard 11% cashback application problem

Options
I applied for the barclays platinum balance transfer card from here. I got a letter of response from Barclaycard saying that I had been accepted for a Barclaycard platinum card but not the card I originally applied for. All the details seem the same as the one advertised in the link but there is no mention of any cash back. Did anyone else get this, is there still any hope of getting 11% cashback or is this a bit of a bait and switch deal.
I'll try and call them tomorrow but they are closed now.

  • Was the difference in the card only in relation to the interest rate?

No experience about the current 11% offer - but when I applied for the 22 month 3.2% (with 0.3% refund making it 2.9% & also £40 refund if BT >£3000), I was told I was successful for a different card (19.9% APR as opposed to 17.9%). And there was no mention about the £40 offer or the refund of 0.3% BT fee.

But I still received the offers (0.3% & £40 refund) without any problems.

    I won't be too concerned I think?
  • Yes the interest rate was different in fact 19.9 as opposed to 17.9. I'm not too fussed about that I intended to repay in full anyway.

Is anyone else with a good/clean credit struggling to qualify?

Seems like my application has been referred to be decided within 5 days.

I've got 9 years of credit history, completely clean and earn more than £30,000 a year. I am wondering if Barclaycard are being smart about this - could be the fact I already have a Barclaycard World Mastercard?

I've already got cards which were traditionally not easy to qualify for - Amex Platinum cash back, HSBC Premier world mastercard, Nationwide visa cash back.

Maybe I have too many cards?!?!?!

I applied & got an immediate acceptance.

No mention of the cashback, when I received the card. Carrd received was a Barclaycard Platinum, but as mentioned, odd that there was no mention of the cashback.

If you speak to them, please keep us informed

Yes me, but I often don't get immediate decisions.
I wonder if it is because I'm a tart. It's the only thing I can think of.

Bit concerned about this as well. Applied for and just received a Barclaycard Platinum. After some problems registering online, now up and running.

Looking through the website, the only mention of rewards that I can establish is what they term 'freedom' - which is store-specific (i.e. not 11% of any spend at any retailer), varies by store, excludes online purchases and is way less - at best rates - than 11%. In short, pretty useless.

Maybe this rewards system is in addition to and separate from the headline 11% thing, but I can see no mention of 11% anywhere.

    Any insight welcome...

It does to me apart from the Dec 31st timescale.
Even at Xmas time I'm running out of time to spend that £909.

I wouldn't normally spend it either, but as it happens, need a car service including tyres and brakes (not withstanding that I'm using Tesco vouchers for the service part - £200 off...), need a new suit (just squeeze in sales after Xmas), normal petrol between now and 31.12 and then all groceries including extra Xmas rubbish + presents...sadly, will easily make it. ;)

For 11% off, certainly worth trying to reschedule stuff you will spend in Jan/Feb if possible?

Yep, will stock the freezer and fill the car up.
