  • Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could help me. I've recently started working for Appen as a web search evaluator and I'm having real trouble sorting out payment. I have my swift and IBAN, but Appen are telling me I need an intermediary bank, but when I go to my bank (NatWest) they say that they don't have one and that Appen shouldn't need one to send me payments via wire transfer. Has anyone else had similar issues? Thanks in advance x

    hi firefly.

I'm not sure why they need that. I have had payments into barclays and recently changed to santander and no problems at all. Unless it's a problem specific to natwest for some reason?
  • hi wesleyad,

I really haven't got a clue. I thought maybe it might be because NatWest is part of RBS, so I'm going to go in branch there at some point to try and figure things out. Been googling like mad but can't seem to find anyone that's had similar issues. Just feeling I'm playing a game of 'he said he said' with either side and getting no where. Appen has loads of + reviews and I've never seen anyone struggling with payment. Worst comes to worst I suppose I'll just have to open a new account with another bank. Do you work for Appen? Did they only ask for your swift and IBAN? x
  • sorry, was just reading back and saw that you do work for them. Bit of a silly Q on this thread too oops :P x

yeah I have worked for them for a few years now. I used Barclays for about 2 years and then recently changed to a Santander. I sent an email to the payroll and they were very helpful just needed swift and IBAN as you say.

I'd be surprised that its down to natwest, they are a huge bank, but I cant think of any other reason why this would happen.

Like you say it might just be best to open a new account, but I agree its a pain. If its any help the charges through santander were less than barclays.

    I am :) :hello:
  • Just in case anyone's reading this considering applying for appen, I did get the payments sorted in the end :)
  • Hi People,
I need urgent answers. I just got an email from Appen to take the Pre-screening test. I have completed that. Does anyone know what the next step is?
I also accessed my page on appenonilne.au and saw the qualifications tabs with spelling test. Do I go ahead and take these too? Thanks.

You don't need to take any other tests, except for your native language test. Even then, sometimes it's not required. The next step is waiting for them to contact you about work opportunities and each come with their own qualification programme.
