:( What a pain, how do you feel about the resit? Do you get any feedback or at least find out which answers were wrong?

I also failed a LF exam last year so I'll probably never get it! Will swot up though. I take it my next step is the exam? Did you do the 30 hours of self study?

It said we need a headset with mic, should I wait and see if I pass the exam before getting one? So many questions!

I'm thinking that if I don't pass this time there's other companies I can try, I don't know if my heart is quite in this one, tbh!

I think I might be on a different project to you, there has been no mention of a headset but I would wait until you're officially in. Good luck!

    Hi All
So... my times up with Loinbridge, really disappointed

:( Got an email this morning about the simulator & then five minutes later received the dreaded 'it's not a reflection on the quality of your work etc, now do what you have to do before the 7th as from the 7th we're kicking you out!' email

I'm looking for something similar, I haven't read the whole thread yet, so forgive me if this has already been asked, but ...

    • Would the fact that I've worked for Loinbridge be a plus or a minus? (Should I even mention it in my application?)
    • Is web search evaluator similar to internet assessor?
    • What are the hours like?
    • Do they make you jump though hoops to get the job? (lionbridge was a nightmare, test (unpaid) after test & then when you get the job, more testing before going live!)
Would LF be a better option? I would be really grateful for any input. :)
   ***I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE YNAB***

    1. You don't need to mention it. Appen don't care if you've worked for Leapforce or Lionbridge, generally speaking. But you can't work for Lionbridge and Appen at the same time.

    2. Both are rather vague descriptions of various tasks included under that heading (there can be as many as 5-10 different types of jobs under those), but yes, they are more or less the same thing.

    3. If you are in the UK you will probably be applying for Freshness. That means 20 hours per week, 4 hours per day. You cannot work on weekends. If you are outside the UK you might get offers for other tasks (Web5, Local and Content projects etc) which offer similar hours, but more flexibility about when you can work them.

    4. Depends on the job. If you're applying for Freshness or Web5, you'll receive a training stipend (AFTER successful completion, you get nothing if you don't pass). Other projects may also offer a training stipend but only after you've entered live production.

  • Hi! I have a quick question.

I would like to work as a web search evaluator for Lionbridge and also take an opportunity as a transcriber for Appen.

Is there any problem?, I would work for these two companies at the same time but the jobs are very different from one another, the tasks to be performed in each of them are not related in any way.

    Thanks for your help!

Technically Lionbridge don't like it if you work for Appen at the same time, but if you are doing transcriber work and not search evaluation it should be no problem.
  • Hi, I am interested in the 20 hour role but thought i should ask on here first before spending time on the qualification.

Does it have to be 4 hours a day Mon-Fri every week? lets say that for some reason i couldn't do Monday and Tuesday, will i then be allowed to do more hours on the following days in order to catch up to 20 hours?

I have also read on other forums that weekend work is allowed if you don't do enough hours on the weekdays, i keep reading different things so i want to know what is what.

Yes you can catch up that way if you miss hours. And you can work on Saturday with permission. Usually the rule is; if you've missed any production hours for the week you are free to make up for them.
  • Hey thanks for your reply.

Just to add to that if you don't mind, do they let you catch up on hours all the time? or are they very strict with the 4 hour policy?

And can you do the 4 hours at any time of the day?

It depends what project you work on. Some have flexibility and you can work whenever you like. Others have a time frame (like 8am-midnight)
