I find the transcription pay varies according to the project...it doesn't pay as much as WSE though. There was a big transcription drop this morning but other sites were paying better, so I haven't done a lot yetThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. Good morning!
Just wondering if anybody is working on any appen projects at the moment. I've not had anything for a while but was sent an email the other day saying there will be work in the next few months.
Hoping that a batch of transcription work comes through similar to this time last year.

I'm still doing WSE for them. They recently made some changes to the guidelines which has made it a bit easier for me to meet the metrics every week. The work hasn't stopped being stressful, but I'd say it's much more tolerable than before (and if things had remained the same I'd probably have been removed from the project by now). If anybody here hasn't tried applying for WSE yet, now is probably a good time to do so.0

Are you doing Web5 or Freshness? I'd re-apply if I could, but unlike the others, Appen don't allow you to re-apply for WSE.0

i have just applied for Appen today and had an email to say i have passed first part of application and now have to take the pre assessment.
what i am wondering is how much can you realistically make per week or month? i have around 5 hours per day where i could be doing work?0 -

Hi,
Working for the FreshnessNews project, the hourly rate works out to about £8.85 and perhaps a bit lower after bank transfer fees.
You are required to complete exactly 4 hours per day Mon to Fri and must meet very specific 'metrics' such as hours worked, rate, and accuracy. Failure to do so will result in a service review where you are required to re-qualify and are not paid.
You could realistically make around £600+ a month taking into account the fees, exchange rate, and any technical difficulties.
I found it very difficult to meet the standards required by the project as you are evaluated on a weekly basis and the criteria can be very confusing! Some people just seem to understand the requirements better than others and last longer. I did not and was terminated after four weeks.
I think it's worth a shot if you have the time and a lot of patience. You may 'click' with the project and find it worthwhile. A fast and reliable Internet connection helps but expect to run into many technical difficulties as the interface can be extremely difficult to work with and I spent a great deal of unpaid time contacting help services.
Payment is monthly and reliable.
I hope I haven't repeated others on this thread and the info is of some use.

Hi
My wife just started the prescreening for this, but firefox froze in the middle. She is worried because the information given emphasises how this is a one-time opportunity and so she doesn't want to restart firefox (even though it is frozen).
She has sent ABH an email but I'm wondering if you can offer advice? Can she just restart and it'll be ok? Will they give her a new test to do?
Its really annoying because I'm the IT person in the house and I installed firefox purely for this test - normally she uses chrome.0 -
Hi, I have also been emailed to take the pre-screen which I passed, I have the exam starting thursday. I am having problems with the toolbar!
I have eventually managed to get it to add to the page, but it doesn't look anything like the example they gave me and its at the bottom not the top!
I have emailed support who told me to to click a link and move it to the top of the page, but the link is missing. I included a screenshot for support but I think they just sent out a generic reply that they must send to everyone with problems. I get the feeling that a lot of people get problems with the toolbar
Has anyone any idea what might be wrong with it?
I have updated everything they told me to, reset I.E, reset time etc. Thanks£100 - £10,0000 -
So if this is a thick question but I just received the pre-screening email, I don't remember applying to them and the email has come from a .au address - please can I ask if this is correct?0
