Like Maktina says it is dependant on project and manager. Most have a cap of 5 hours a day so you could work mon-thurs 5 hours a day and have a friday off etc.

I currently try to do as above and then it allows for any extra hours they might give out to be done in leisure on the friday

Well, I failed the assessment test (both) they say they will get back to me.

Will they actually get back to me, or no?

I felt a couple of them were kind of iffy ....

I can understand why the answer could be what they indicate, but I can also see the answer a different way.

Should I just apply for the same type of work elsewhere? I liked Appen because they seemed flexible with hours. Are any of the other places as flexible or not really?

Sad at missing the cut by 2.

Clarification: It was a rating assessment.

Sorry to hear you failed, I did too, just! I had a couple of ones where the stuff I was seeing was completely different (don't want to say too much in case I get into trouble) and I appealed but didn't hear anything back.

Have you considered Leapforce or Lionbridge? I've just finished with Lionbridge (1 year contract only) and I really enjoyed it.

Good luck, whatever you decide to do!
  • Do I have to tell whoever I try next that I failed?

Was Lionsbridge open to hours you could work or depends?

(Did you tell Appen that you worked at Lionsbridge?)

I wasn't looking for anything life altering, but a second income would be nice.

Quite gutted to say that my application to LB has been rejected today. I am a SAHM and put that on the form, should I have event quiet about it? Can anyone please advise me what skills they are looking for? Many thanks

    Hi KRDmum,

Sorry to hear they turned you down. I doubt it has anything to do with being a SAHM as I know a few people who are and have worked for lionbridge and appen with no problems (if anything its a bonus as they know you will be able to have the time to do the work, rather than trying to fit it in at evening after a full days work).

I don't know the ins and outs of how they select, I think a lot comes down to how many they need at a given time and if too many have applied they will just have to cut some. Hopefully they will keep your name and contact you in future if they have a space.

In the meantime I'd recommend trying appen or leapforce, its similar work. They both have big threads on here with lots of info.

    good luck!

I am applying to Appen as we speak, so here's hoping. Can really do with some extra cash and something to keep my brain active lol.
All i got from LB was, the note below:
Thank you for applying to the Internet Assessor (UK) position with Lionbridge.
We regret to inform you however that your application has been unsuccessful on this occasion.
Unfortunately, due to the large volume of applications we receive, we are not in a position to provide individual feedback at this stage.
Thank you for your interest in this position.

do they usually keep names of applicants?

    Thanks for the reassurance!

Just got another email from them offering me this instead :
As you have previously applied for a work from home position with Lionbridge, we
would like to offer you the opportunity to apply for the Web Content Side by Side
    Judge English (UK) role.

can anybody shed any light on this position? Thank you

This usually happens if you apply to LF first/at the same time, which is why you should always do LB, then LF afterwards. Not that I'm 100% sure that that's the issue in your case, but am assuming so if they've now offered you a chance to qualify for a different position. (Cos while both jobs are with LB, the end client is NOT the same!)

I got put forward for this last May. Never bothered taking the exam in the end as the task was WAY too difficult, and I estimated it would've taken me something ridiculous like 8 hours to rate all of the examples. I actually talked about it at the time on pages 49/50 of this thread.

Suppose the job could possibly have changed since then, though.. :)
