Not sure TBH. Are you registered (and up-to date) on both the Appen site AND AppenOnline?
Well, I've just managed to log in to both. My AppenOnline seemed OK, although I think I had to tick some sort of box on the first page which I don't remember being there last time. As for the Appen site, my candidate profile was mainly blank. (Despite the fact I'm SURE I remember filling it in around the time I was let go from WSE..) Anyway, I quickly attached a CV, and will go back and do the rest another time when I can be bothered..
Originally passed the UK spelling test in February, but didn't submit the contract straight away as I was afraid I'd be bombarded with jobs immediately, which I wouldn't've had time for as I was still doing WSE at that point. (As if!) So, think it was a couple of months later that I eventually got round to submitting it.Mallrat, have you done spelling tests for all the different accents? This project is apparently with aussie speakers. Can't think of any reason they would snub you if you've passed the tests.
Suppose this could well be the reason then.Just seems weird to me to attempt to take the test for other markets, as I'd assume that at least SOME words are spelt differently in - for example - Australia. Wouldn't it make more sense to recruit people actually living in that market to do these sort of tasks?
Am also surprised that so many on here automatically decided to take all those different English tests without specifically being told to. Never even occurred to me to do so. But then maybe I'm just lazy.0 -
I don't think I'm registered with Appen as such, just AppenOnline. It took a while for me before I was offered any work, and it seems a bit hit and miss to be honest. I was lucky to work as a supervisor on a project last year, and my boss said he would recommend me for future projects but until now (and a small project last autumn I think it was) there hasn't been a lot around.
I think I did the Aussie test one day when I was just updating my details on all sites as I had a really flat period work wise. I didn't do all the English speaking countries though. Maybe I should
Slightly OT but does anyone know if you can work for iSS and other WSE/Crowdsourcing companies? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hi guys sorry to cross post this here. I originally put it in a lionsbridge thread but i want to see what some of you appen people in this thread have to say about this: Im quite new here but have found usefull information in this forum. I had a question regarding lionsbridge and appen butler hill regarding the internet assessor and web search analyst positions. i applied for both and made it past pre screens and am now scheduled for tests for both companies. the tests dates are a day apart (which scares me in case they are with the same testing company or something... idk). i did use the same email to apply for both jobs ( /noob). the only 'red flag' they gave me was that lionsbridge said if i have tested with or worked with leapforce i wont be able to work for them but they didnt say anything about appen. if i had to choose between the 2 i would take appen just because it seems to be more set hours and they pay you/give you a bonus for completing the exam (so i hear). i would love to do both jobs if possible. should i just only take the exam for one company and ignore the other or just go for it and take both exams in case i fail one? i have heard mixed answers all over the place about conflicts of interest and some people say they cross check emails, ips, etc. Do these companies run the same contracts or clients? Ill stop babbling but any info in this situation would be appreciated. Thanks in advance and good luck to anyone else trying to get on board!
tldr: any possible way to work for lionsbridge and appen at the same time?0 -
Anyone else doing the second part of the transcription test? Finding it much harder than the UK one but giving it a go
Sorry I don't know if you can work for AB and LB at the same time. I didn't think so tbh, but I don't know for sure. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

100% no and if they find out you are working for anyone else at the same time you will lose both the positions.
Best advice is to only apply for one company at once. To be honest taking both tests at once will be very confusing!
My advice would be to go with Appen and apply to ISS if you fail or try and retake the Lionbridge exam. Leapforce dont appear to be taking on ath the moment so no point applying.0 -

Personally, having done both of those jobs, I would take the LB exam. I'm not sure they like to take on people who have worked elsewhere (for that particular role, anyway), plus the job itself is easier and much more enjoyable. Yes, Appen paid me for training (although not sure if they still do), but I spent so long being placed on review and having to requalify that I had many weeks where I earned nothing at all. Also, someone on this thread (Maktina??) recently proved that it's possible to apply for WSE at Appen more than once, and get back into the qualification process. Would probably be best to use a different email address of course, though.0 -
Weirdly, I have just received my first transcription invitation.. Not sure if it's the same thing others have been doing the past few days though. My only concern is I seem to remember people saying that they only actually pay out once you reach the $50 minimum. Is that correct?0

I remember hearing that too, the Crowdsourcing is 50AUD minimum. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Thanks.
Well I did the task anyway, as basically I had nothing else to do and was bored. Think I screwed up though, as about 5 of the clips ended up blank due to me not really understanding how the software worked near the start. Couldn't see any way to delete them, so I therefore ended up presenting them with 455 recordings, instead of the 450 they asked for. Am assuming this means the whole lot will just be rejected, and therefore no payment?! :undecided0 -

I haven't done that task before, I would've done it today but I was too busy. I'm sure I remember a lot of people on here talking about it last time it was around so I'm sure someone else will let you know what happens. Got a fairly decent score on the second transcription test so really hoping I'm through
