haha, I was just trying to help them make up their mind ;)

Errr very little is gained I think. You get a tiny fee added to your invoice if one of your referrals gets hired and works enough to qualify. Hardly worth using a referral link, but in these trying economic times every little bit helps ;) Wasn't trying to scam anybody.

Join us at LeapForce. Joiiiiin uuuuuuuuuus.

Seriously, it's brilliant, and I think they're making great strides to improve their rater feedback and review system, not to mention their community involvement. If you've read reviews from former raters in the past, discard them, as a lot has changed (even in the small time I've been there).

Here's my personal referral link, if you fancy using it.

Or the non-referral one here: https://www.leapforceathome.com/qrp/public/jobs/list

Any questions you might have, hop into the LF thread.

Both 271906 and myself have applied recently, but have heard nothing back so far. It's only been just over a week for me, but I think he did the application around the beginning of the month. So, it's possible that ex-Appen workers may be being rejected automatically. Although in my case, I might still be on some sort of blacklist due to having "failed" the exam in the past. (Without ever actually gaining access to it, mind.) Seeing that it's now over a year since all that happened, though, I was hoping that maybe they'd let me off, or have deleted their records. (And yes, I did use a brand new email address as well.) But who knows what's really going on.. Of course, there's also the fact that applicants are now expected to possess smartphones, have experience of Google Circles, a whole heap of contacts, use Facebook, use Twitter, when none of that was being asked for a year ago. Therefore, if LF have "changed" for the better.. Well, I'm not really seeing any evidence of it quite yet.

Interesting to hear that things are going well for all those who managed to get in last year, though. Just count yourselves lucky, that's all I can say!! :p

No problem with someone posting a referral link, personally. Maybe they even give extra precedence to people applying via them, as they certainly don't seem very keen to put anyone around here forward for the exam at the moment..

It can take a while to hear back, there have been people in the LF thread that applied and had to wait a while. My own personal speculation is that they might hire in certain cycles and wait for enough applicants to "gather up" and then get back to them all at once, rather than being a rolling application period. Just my 2 cents.

Anywho, you definitely don't need smartphones or tablets, they are just bonuses. And you only need a Google account. I had nobody in my "circle" when I applied, never told them my Facebook or Twitter accounts, etc, and had no problems.

Yep, I followed the story of that poster on the LF thread who had to wait 2 weeks for a response. Am still hoping that I'll have a similar experience, but it's hard to keep the negative thoughts completely at bay considering my previous dealings with them.

That's good to hear. Although the form I filled in strongly suggested you DO need a smartphone, and that they probably wouldn't process your application if you didn't. Whether you actually need to use one during the course of the work or not. (What would they do if you're on PAYG/run out of credit, for example?!) Its just the uncertainty that's the problem. Eg, Should you be honest about working for other companies when they ask? Is previous experience classed as a positive thing, or as a conflict of interest meaning they cannot hire you? If you lied, would they be able to tell anyway, and then judge you harshly as a result? And that's just the first question! :wall:

I just meant good promotion for LF - wasn't referring to the referral link. Wasn't meant as a criticism.

Honestly I have no great expectations about how long to wait to hear back - took Lionbridge over 6 months to offer me a position (and get this, I had to submit my paperwork by the next morning which was the deadline, almost missed out. Then again knowing these companies the deadline was probably completely fictitious..) and about a month for ABH.

@ oneflewover I think I will use that referral link and go for LF :) Sentiment towards LF does seem a LOT better than last year

Looks like I wont be worrying about that wage drop from now on - just got my termination from ABH! Slightly miffed because now I don't get to send an 'I quit' email. :p For anyone interested, my total removals was 5 times, same as MallRat I believe.

Absolutely ridiculous you've been let go. So many experienced raters gone the last 6 months, they're so unrealistic.. what are they hoping for in our market? Nobody new could last in the job as it is right now. There will be 1 left pretty soon i imagine, then what??

Good luck with LF! Infinitely better client.

Thanks! I hope it pans out. I will not miss internet explorer.

You're right, the only new people who make it will be the psychics who can predict the whims of the auditors. My experience has been that ABH are totally robotic - get X wrong Y times and Z happens, it's just automated and no real allowance for the human factor. You literally cannot have a bad week or just a particularly bad day or you lose. Basically my 'career' with them is summed up by my first week: start working, realise that 100 RPH is really unrealistic for a newbie, so fail the metrics and get put on review for two weeks.
Eventually get on top of things but then suddenly everyone is stomped by audits. C'est la vie :wall:

After all this I'm not sure what the company really does? I see no effort to improve things or even get new people on the roster. As it is they could leave it completely unattended (except auditors maybe) and the automated system would gradually fire everyone, just like they've been doing.
  • What a nightmare week! Definitely a change in auditor, rates more harsh than the last. Audits today were a laugh, duplicates for some reason so i'm punished twice for the same mistake, contradictions of past reports for exact Q/LP. Not really their fault though - i'd hate their job, the client and their crappy guidelines is the problem.

Looks like there's competition in our market now.. wonder what interpretation of the guidelines iSS will bring! I have little hope for what remains of our roster. Just put us out of our misery
