Na! I'll use whatever potatoes I have in the house for Baked Spuds!

    Hi,

A friend gave me a huge bag of what looks like bramley apples and I have no idea what to do with them, apart from crumbles and pies. He said he would bring me another bag next week and that will get me to around 10kg .

I'd like to turn them into something that can be kept / frozen for later. unfortunately I am not the best of cooks and I sadly lack imagination in the kitchen, so I thought I would come here and ask for advice.

    Thank you.

Eve's pudding is my favourite use of cooking apples - plain sponge mix spooned over apples and baked.:drool::drool: It should freeze OK although I've never tried doing so - I always eat it all too quickly to have any to keep! :o

If you run out of inspiration you could always just peel and chop the apples and freeze them for use later - they'll go mushy when defrosted but will be fine for cooking with.
Back after a very long break!

Make pork & apple casseoles & freeze them.
Make apple sauce to use with pork.
Apple cakes uses lots of apples & is yummy.

  • Eve's pudding sure is yummy! One of my favorites. I'd go with that suggestion too.

Thank you very much for your answers. I will certainly try the Eve's Pudding, it sounds really nice.

Squeaky thanks for the link. I did a search but the results were all over the place! This is exactly what I was looking for.

AC - if they ARE bramleys and are in good condition (not holed and not bruised), they willl keep in a cool damp place until next spring, so you can use them over several months. if you keep them somewhere hot or in a heated house they will get a bit soft after acouple of months but still be useable.
