had a phone call from sons school this morning, my son was at the bus stop with his friend this morning waiting for the bus and mucking aroundwith each other. when a man has got out of his van and threatened them saying he was gonna get them and towatch thier backs with this pushing my son up against the bus stop.
he phoned the police and took down the reg number hopefully he rembered it right and they have said they will get back to us within 72 hrs.
my son is still at school as he said he was ok and didnt want picking up. so until he gets home i wont get the full story but i did ask if he or his friend had done anything stupid for this to happen as kids are want to do, my son is 12 tomorrow an his friend is 13 so am so cross that an adult has actually put his hands on my son.

Even when he gets home it's unlikely you'll get the full story. If the police pick the bloke up he'll tell a completely different story.
Remove your son from the equation so you can look at it objectively. A couple of kids are messing about between themselves at the bus stop and a van stops; the man gets out and threatens them for no reason and pushes one against the bus stop....
It sounds like there could be a lot more to it than what you've been told, or it's been over dramatised for effect.0 -
2 options here
1) random loony who just jumped out of van and threatened kids for no reason (and I'm not saying that isn't what happened)
2) 'Messing about' was something dangerous/frightening/damaging to passing drivers and one of them over-did it a bit while trying to stop the kids. It may or may not have been your son doing it, but maybe the driver got that wrong. To be honest, if I have to intervene in something kids are doing wrong these days I go completely OTT to scare the !!!! out of them too (but verbally not physically) as if you ask nicely now it just makes it worse. I'm not really trying to justify what happened, but my car was hit once by a stone thrown by a kid a few years ago, I pulled over and when I caught the little !!!!!! I shook him to kingdom come by his clothes while yelling at him. I wouldn't have given a damn what his parents thought about that. He could have caused an accident and killed someone.Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j

Honestly, what are the chances of a complete stranger stopping and getting out of their vehicle to threaten a couple of school-kids during rush-hour if those kids were doing nothing that affected anyone on the road?
Save your ire for when you know the whole story. If you ever get it.0 -
hopefully there will be cctv along the road so it will show what had happened for the man to get out of his van! if they were doing something that could potentially cause an accident then I dont blame him for scaring the !!!! out of your son and his mates - maybe next time they are at a bus stop they will think twice about mucking about!0

yescompletely agree with all you points. i did ask my son what they were doing and if they had done anything stupid, i e chucking stones or something as kids can be little sods at times and dont always realise the danger.
my son has only just started getting the bus to school in sep he isnt allowed out as a rule so isnt really streetwise, he is my eldest and yes im probably a bit over protective.
like i said i wont get the full story until he gets in, he sings like a canary lol
but if they did do something wrong and was worried about it why would he phone the police immedietly. anyway he has basketball tonight so wont know anything till after 5.
im just worried now as the bloke shouted that he was gonna get them and to watch themselves, so obviously now he will be getting lifts to and from school for the forseeable.
i can understand if they have done something and been told off but to say that is what i find strange and why im cross, and to be honest no he shouldnt of put his hands on an 11 yr old at all
when the boys say mucking about its because there is a large area of grass there and they play on it.please remember this is an 11 yr old who isnt street wise and cheeky and rude, im not saying he is angel far from it he is a childand can do wrong like the rest of them. but he isnt one who is allowed to roam the streets and do as he pleasesnow proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0 -
Not that it excuses the behaviour, but mistaken identity? One small boy in a uniform looks very much like another unless you know them. I even had to point out to my teenager that one of the pics on their friend's Facebook was them, they hadn't noticed!0

You're making plans to ferry your little darling to and from school without knowing the whole picture? There's nothing "obviously" about it. You sound like someone who has already made up their mind about what happened and why before they've got the full facts.
The driver's behaviour sounds exactly like someone who's had a very nasty shock. Most likely caused by the two kids either chucking something in his car's path or jumping into the road in front of him. Or something of that kind.
What are the chances of there being a lone loony about who likes to stop his car during rush-hour just to threaten innocent school-kids who are minding their own business? Pretty ruddy remote, I'd say.0 -
yes he is my little darling of course he is and i will always try and protect him thats what mums do. and like i said i will talk to him later on and get the full story,
but like ive also said, what im worried about is the bloke shouted that he was gonna get them and to watch themselves which to me is a threat for the future so why wouldnt i take him to school for a bit.
i havent made up my mind, ive said i was fuming and i was its an initial reaction when someone upsets your family
if they have done something then yes they should of been told off/shouted at but we dont know that they have yet
and if i find out they hve then my son will get punished at home for it and i will let the police know why the man done this but
the man hasnt just told them off for something he threatened them, so if i let them go out monday morning and the man keeps to his threat then i would be a bad mumnow proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0 -
Being as it was the school who rang you ,and how concerned you appear, if it were me I would have made arrangements with the school go there at break time or lunch time and try to find out more about exactly what happened.
Although it is possible that this was out of the blue, I do agree that the chance of this is quite remote. However, nonetheless it would be of concern to me also.
I would imagine though that the two boys did do something to instigate this happening.
I would not be able to wait until gone 5.00 pm to find out and it is pointless coming to any conclusions until you get more of the picture.0 -
sounds to me as if the van driver got a fright/shock to be honest...stone on windscreen...kids playing chicken....my husband doesn't really swear in front of the kids but once we were driving along in the snow and some kid threw a snowball at the windscreen well my husband got out and swore like there was no tomorrow..some of it was I know where you ******** live boy!...it was down to sheer fright.
The chances of some random van driver doing that is VERY slim and I'm 99% sure you won't get the whole truth out of your boy...you find kids that don't get let out abit...ermmmm hyper in want of a different word and yes I do have experience in the matter with kids not allowed out on their own.
but in saying that I hope you get to the bottom of it and come back and let us know!;)You may walk and you may run
You leave your footprints all around the sun
And every time the storm and the soul wars come
You just keep on walking0
