Ryanair ---- Now Too Much Hassle?
Comments
-
Just been travelling to my homeland with partner and no luggage.
Total cost for 2 people: £250, of which under £40 for the longest, fastest leg of the journey, in an expensive aircraft.
RyanAir staff is lovely, flights on time, what more do you want?
Remember the 70s when it cost over 10 TIMES MORE because you had a "free" bag in the hold and a "free" drink.
Get real and stop moaning.0 -

If in the 70's it cost ten times more due to you having a "free" bag in the hold and a "free" drink on the flight, then the actuality is that the "free" bag and drink weren't "free", but were actually very expensive.0 -
I think most people agree with the low cost airlines general model of only paying for baggage, meals and drinks if you want them. That is fine. What people object to is the recent introduction of charges for things which are not optional such as online check-in, EU levies, card fees, rip off exchange rates and excessive punative charges for those who get caught out (Ryanair's £120/£150 charge to check in a 15KG bag at the airport, that's £240/£300 on a return flight, being the highest I have seen).0

Absolutely, I couldn't agree more.MarkBargain wrote: »I think most people agree with the low cost airlines general model of only paying for baggage, meals and drinks if you want them. That is fine. Ryanair needs a dose of regulation and I can't seen how it can avoid that in the medium term.0 -

As I posted on the other thread, the OFT should be telling Ryanair (and every other retailer), if you want to trade in the UK, you play by our rules, not your own made up ones. Much like Ryanair tell potential customers, if you want to use us, play by our rules.0 -

Yes I agree. I can't understand how Ryanair have avoided being probed about their blatant activities.
I booked a hotel with Alpharooms.com. When I got to the end of it all I was presented with a charge of £6.12 for payment by credit/debit card. There was one option for a free transaction and that was with a prepaid Mastercard. I have one of those but it didn't have enough cash left on it. In any case it charges 1.5% I think and as the hotel price came to £445 I calculated I would be worse off to recharge the Mastercard and use it. So I paid the credit/debit card charge.
In short, it's nowt more than a tax on payments and given the plethora of taxes that we all have to suffer today I think it should be outlawed.0 -
Slowly getting worn down by the grindstone O'Leary, how can there be any pleasure in a business by milking/making fools of your clients?
When will the breaking point arrive, would make a fascinating thesis!
And here we were beleiving private sector is best, am afraid not...the worst of the private sector is way worse than the public sector!
Not sure how long I can bear with RA's insulting type business model.....maybe because I am just a miserable git under it all, as are most of his clients!

Not only am I a miserable git but am confused about whether or not I should buy their mastercard or not to book flights from either the UK or Dublin.....clarification please?

Yea, I agree, I've nothing but praise for Ryanair. When booking I just look at the bottom line figure with all the add-ons. (I try not to get too stressed with things like EU 261 Levy) and I am, without doubt extremely satisfied. 14.99 singles from Glasgow to Gran Canaria. Just back, added a return 15kg case to my generous 10kg hand luggage and Voila, return flights for 2 people, £114. UNBELIEVABLE. And also with the most modern fleet of aircraft and high punctuality rates.0 -
