Ryanair ---- Now Too Much Hassle?

HORROR ALERT: Indignant Steve horrified by Moneysavingexpert's 2sides2everystory who bought an Easyjet plane ride and dares to say he was pleased with it. 2sides now also says he DOESN'T CARE what Ryanair would have charged for a similar flight with their complicated card tricks and quick rub down by baggage police thrown in for fee. Indignant Steve remains as expected ... well ... indignant
Steve clearly you are a bit sad about the level of disinterest in your favorite airline. I answered your question an age ago.
I don't know what the Ryanair fare would have been because I really don't remember checking it. It was not important in the grand scheme of things called "my travel plans".
Like more and more members of the travelling public who long ago realised that Ryanair are no longer so different from their competitors, I simply don't care what they may or may not have charged. They have reduced air travel to the level of inconsequence that means it doesn't matter which airline I choose as long as it is easy. Ryanair used to be easy. Now on some trips Easy is easiest for me. Got that?
Bottom line --> it was Easy.0 -

I'm not interested in all of that. I simply asked for the price difference details and clearly you can't or won't provide them. So that's the end of it.0 -
What no-one has really highlighted apart from litzi1 on 27th November is that Ryanair have gone so rogue this last week or so that they have actually stuck two fingers up at their entire customer base if making a booking that starts in the UK. No-one can escape the administration charge of £6 per person per leg unless they have Ryanair's own card but only UK and Italian residents are eligible to apply.
This was not the case in the first week or so of the new regime when it was possible for non-UK nationals to avoid fees if they used Mastercard Pre-Paid. Ryanair have gone ahead and denied administration fee free flights to Prepaid Mastercard holders from other countries without changing their Ts and Cs. This means fees are being levied in contravention of their own Ts and Cs.
Stinks doesn't it? I'd like to know what CAA and OFT are doing about it.0 -
As a mediator here to the argument that has ensued, I always think part of saving money is the ephemeral value of, say, time
Say a flight costs £10 less, but takes an hour longer to book, deal with the extra work, and manage your baggage. also add needing to travel wash and the like while away (due to taking less luggage) which takes, over the course of your holiday, an hour. and, finally, the airport is further from your destination, which also adds, say, an hour extra travel each end
the question is, at that point, is the 4 hours you have lost "worth" £10? if it is, you have made a saving, if it isn't, you have not - for some people, those 4 hours have a higher or lower value than to other people.
My point being, there is more to money saving than the actual act of saving money0 -

Time, convenience and the total cost of everything involved in getting to/parking at the airport.
If the flight is £10 from Birmingham and you live in Newcastle, but it`s £50, which one would you book?
At the end of the day if you`re happy with the price
you buy.
If not
you don`t.0 -
a more extreme example being, on a "regular" airline, direct from Manchester to New York is usually between £100 and £200 more than a flight with a connection
so, is your flight taking 3 or 4 hours longer, and the extra hastle of the transfer, worth £150
for some people it is, for some people it isn't
there is no need to argue about who is right with any type of money saving0 -
Very nicely put Bouncy, and so true :money:As a mediator here to the argument that has ensued, I always think part of saving money is the ephemeral value of, say, time ... there is more to money saving than the actual act of saving money
PS Now all we have to do is get O'Leary on board with the same argument - he too could make it so much nicer for us because we don't easily dismiss his wares, it's only when he makes life around his world seem unnecessarily difficult that we walk away. Ryanair being cheap as chips is a state of mind, and just like the states and remote places Ryanair sometimes drops us it is one which is far now from Burgeoning
Thinking caps on Ryanair, you need to help us find a way back from Shying! Burgeoning was always one of your more popular planned destinations. Getting us to Shying was surely an unplanned diversion? 0 -
Has Ryanair changes (not allowing ScreenScrapers, not allowing Agents such as Travel Republic to book seats on behalf of clients, the re-introduction of reCAPTCHA security software as well as the introduction of new Ryanair payment card) come home to haunt them. I refer to various news articles stating that Ryanair bookings fell last month by 8%, BBC this am as well as other sources including bloomberg.com/news/2011-12-05/ryanair-passenger-numbers-drop-8-as-carrier-grounds-planes.html0

Maybe more to do with Ryanair grounding 80 aircraft this winter?
The load factor hasn't decreased.0 -
In this "Ryanair ---- Now Too Much Hassle" forum a lot has been discussed, which has also been reported in the travel press that with latest Ryanair draconian measures will put people off booking by as much as 30% and I felt that the 8% down in bookings, as reported, in the last month may reflect that customers are deciding "Ryanair ---- Now Too Much Hassle" Could this also be a part cause for "Ryanair grounding 80 aircraft this winter"0
