Ryanair ---- Now Too Much Hassle?

In this "Ryanair ---- Now Too Much Hassle" forum a lot has been discussed, which has also been reported in the travel press that with latest Ryanair draconian measures will put people off booking by as much as 30% and I felt that the 8% down in bookings, as reported, in the last month may reflect that customers are deciding "Ryanair ---- Now Too Much Hassle" Could this also be a part cause for "Ryanair grounding 80 aircraft this winter"
Ryanair will often spit their dummy out with regards to landing fees. It wasn't that long ago that they pulled out of Manchester airport because they couldn't agree fees with the airport owners. That must now have been overcome because they are starting to add more flights to and from Manchester now.
I've heard of similar disputes with Ryanair at overseas airports.0 -

Yet even more hoops and some of them invisible.
Surely travelling with this lot is now just too risky?
Budget airline Ryanair has increased the cost of checked-in baggage with summer and Christmas travellers who discover their hand luggage won't fit now hit with a £100 charge.
In some cases it will cost £135 to take a bag, if you haven’t booked it online before you fly.
The fee for taking a bag up to 15kg in peak season at the airport will rise from £40 to £100 - a charge that also hits those who turn up at the airport and find their hand luggage is too big or heavy.
The no-frills airline is also increasing its fee for printing boarding cards at the airport from January 15 2012, from the current price of £40 to £60.
Their staff are on bonuses looking for hand luggage that won`t fit in their metal frames and if your printed boarding card isn`t crystal clear they won`t accept it.
All this after searching for a flight and constantly getting cut out of their site with their new security passwords.
No wonder passenger numbers are dropping.0 -
I flew with Ryanair for the first time this year and I was appalled at their service! The previous 2 flights I had been on were with BA and United (on both of which I got bumped up to premium economy) and the drop down was shocking.
The first thing that shocked me was the mad rush to the gate and no allocated seats, then after getting on the plane, there was nowhere to put my hand luggage anywhere near me, I had asked an attendant but she ignored me, I was then told to take my seat and explained that I was trying to find somewhere to put my hand luggage and I was told to just sit down with it. I also had no idea I had to print off my own boarding passes for the return flight and luckily a local english woman told me about it and on the morning of the flight I had to find an internet cafe to print them off in to avoid the £60+ charge, it was without a doubt the worst flight I've ever been on.
That being said, you can't really find much cheaper fares, my advice, if you're on a budget, then fly with them but have NO expectations and prepare for everything!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. It was ALL so unexpected, you see i dont read any of the often repeated terms and conditions so BOLDLY printed on my flight confirmation, and just blindly stumble along to my fate, and when i was'nt upgraded to club class, well,my world fell apart.Political?....I dont do Political....well,not much!0 -
Don't be so selfish, you aren't meant to read them.
If everyone who flew with read them, the fares would have to go up for the one's that did read them. Like me.
I still use them quite often, and they provide a reasonable service if:
When booking, you ignore what the ticket price starts at and remember it's double.
You travel alone and your hand baggage can go over your shoulder.
You don't take any checked luggage, and do six weeks training for the 60 yard dash to the airplane steps.
Arrive at the airport an hour before everyone else can be beneficial.
Oh and fly from Spain, cos the boarding pass printing charge has been ruled illegal there.
Now if you look at it that way, Ryanair is offering a perfectly reasonable product.

Do you have a source for these three points please? Also, please state what you believe happens if / when Ryanair do not accept a boarding pass that isn't crystal clear.0 -
I got knocked back at security because my home printed British Airways boarding pass wasn't crystal clear. It has to be readable for their scanners.0

Were you referred to your airline, who issued you a replacement boarding pass, free?0 -

Staff paid bonuses to spot oversize, overweight hand babbage.

Numbers drop 8% because planes are not needed because of lack of demand.

Ryanair's 'Boarding Pass Reprint' FeeImage: Damian Corrigan
The Ryanair fee that the most people fall foul of.Everyone who flies with Ryanair has to check in online. That's right: everyone. You. Must. Check. In. Online. Lots of people forget and are forced to pay a 'boarding pass reprint fee'. Oh yeah, did I tell you? Check in online!
Even if you have printed your boarding card, you may still be fined. Reasons I have heard of include:- Print-out of bad quality
- Page is damaged
- Part of the page is missing. You must print everything, including the advertisement.
How Much You Could be Charged
40€ per person.

Which is fair enough as the boarding pass must be readable by the scanner - but I bet BA didn't charge you for printing a new one.0
