good luck0 -
Hi Susanne, couldn't just read this without wishing you good luck for tomorrow.
I felt so sad for your situation reading this obviously you just buried your head in the sand and it's easily done, I can't imagine how worried you must be right now.
You will probably get a suspended sentence and community work or something as a first time offence and the fact you owned up to it and that you have five children, fingers crossed for you.
To be fair, she only turned herself in because he husband found out.
I have no sympathy for her - she's a common conniving predator and there's simply no excuse for what she did.
Loads of people have it harder than she does - should they all turn to fraud?
And you can all spare me the "high horse" comments - I'm calling it as it is.0 -
There's no way Suzanne is going to prison.
The amount missing has been bartered down to £15K, and her barrister will say she intends to settle that when she can.
Like it or not, sexual equality has yet to reach sentencing, so Suzanne being a woman and a mother is also in her favour.
Jail, the courts are told, should be reserved for violent offenders.
Breach of trust is viewed seriously, but all the loans have been taken off the customers and put into an account for Suzanne, so the only victim here is Provident.
It'll be a good ticking off, a suspended sentence, community service and a compensation order for the money outstanding.0 -

Susanne I know someone who did a very similar thing to you, they got other people to take out loans for them & it all went wrong.
They made the front page of the sun & ended up in jail for a descent stretch. But alot of that was due to media interest
But we were talking 50k plus
The jails are full of rioters, you may be ok0 -

I won't waste your time trying to defend her (because I also agree what she did is bad) BUT what she did is not "predatory" nor did she abuse trust with anyone. She took out loans through other people. In the eyes of the law she abused her position, but all these people agreed and consented and none of them have lost out as she repaid them (assuming what she has said is accurate).
She didn't rip anyone off, she just took out more credit than she should have and used other people as proxies for the loans. All these people consented to being used... it's not as if she did it without their consent.
She broke the law and should be punished, yes, but she did nothing "predatory", she did not profit off of this.
If your friend came to you and said "I need a £1,000 loan, can you take one out for £1,000 and I'll pay you back that + the interest over the same period?" would you think "whoa hold up, that's a terrible crime you are abusing my friendship!". Yes it's fraud but it isn't some big moral crime where she abused friendships and ripped her friends off, nobody (besides provident) lost out because of this.0 -

.
Am I the only person who thinks that getting £45,000 written off and (most likely) no prison sentance is unfairly stacking in favour of an offender? (not meaning to have a dig at the OP personally, who may have mitigating factors etc etc)
Hardly a deterant is it?0 -
I wonder what time the OP is in court. It would be awful to be sent down especially at xmas.Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000
