. I have 1 child who qualifies and 1 who doesn't. I totally refuse to add to my daughters trust fund. I told the bloke at the bank this when I opened the account. I have no idea if at 18 she will spend it wisely or on drink, an unsuitable boyfriend or worse  . I forsee lots of woes in the problem pages and headlines of the tabloids saying I paid £1,000s into my childs TF and s/he blew it in a week. Think yourself lucky you're out of it.
sexy fufu- You don't seem to be acknowledging what we are saying. That you no longer receive the amount of benefit that you do, is nothing to do with being part of a couple now. It is to do with your household income. If you'd remained single and got a whacking payrise to the same amount your new combined salary is, you'd have got the same tax credits as you now get as part of a couple. That you are worse off, is to do with your boyfriend not sharing his salary with you. That is an issue between you and your boyfriend.0 -
he earns 32k but by the time we has paid CSA there isnt much in our wages.:ASexy_fufu:A0

WOW 55k a year if you do overtime! The issue is definitely your bf not willing to share his extra k's rather than government not helping subsidise your 55k, prefering instead to help those whose income - whether single parents or working couples - is no where near your combined 55k
Surely csa can't be taking that much off your bf that there's hardly any left in the pot. Maybe asking for a recalculation may help? There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter0 -

black-saturn wrote:Lots of single parents have fled because they fear for their lives and to make life better for themselves. You make sweeping statements which say that all single parents are females who sleep around just to get benefits and a free house. That covers about 1% of them. I don't begrudge paying my tax to single parents but I do begrudge paying it for immigrants. Send me to India with Jade if you like.
I think you are losing the plot. When have I ever said single mothers sleep around to get benefits?? I believe that my stance has always been that the needy, for whatever reason, are supported, but a life on benefits should not be a lifestyle choice. and who the hell is Jade? Why would you want to go to India with her?0 -

Come on sexy fu-fu! What EXACTLY are you complaining about?? Your joint income is 51k per year. That is a take home of 3167.61 per month between you. Now you say he pays 300 pounds for CSA, well as he on his own takes home 1946 per month, my maths says that minus CSA leaves him with 1646 left over. That to me does not mean hardly anything left over??!! However to offset his outgoing of 300 pounds per month, you get 200 pounds per month. Therefore, in real terms your household pays only 100 pounds maintenance.
You say your income is 3167.61 per month, less 100 pounds for CSA (once in and out are sorted), that leave 3067.61 for everything else. You can EASILY afford to pay your bills. I can't see exactly what your problem is? You also get your child benefit and you would be entitled to 545 per year for Child Tax credits as you don't earn 64k per year between you, so I don't know where you get your figures from as 80 pounds per year - they are wrong.
Your issue is your bf, not that the Govt don't give you enough because, they really don't need to.
However, if you are finding it a bit tight please let me ask a simple question:
How many children does your BF pay maintenance for? Is is paying under the old or new system?0
