Worse of Boyfriend Moving in

Lots of single parents have fled because they fear for their lives and to make life better for themselves. You make sweeping statements which say that all single parents are females who sleep around just to get benefits and a free house. That covers about 1% of them. I don't begrudge paying my tax to single parents but I do begrudge paying it for immigrants. Send me to India with Jade if you like.krisskross wrote:No one ever starts a thread like this because it is racist. I begrudge nothing to genuine immigrants who have come to the country in fear of their lives or purely to work and make a better life for themselves. We only hear about the fraudsters amonst the immigrants, much as you are always complaing that single parents on benefits are always berated.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -
And why do you think the government doesn't have the money to help families, give to the NHS, spend on education or anything else?sexy_fufu wrote:Black,
I agree single parents do need the money, what im saying is this government does NOT help families.
Espically families who want to work and not sponge.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -
I agree Sexy fu-fu but there's not much we can do about it. I get no childcare cost help whatsoever, which would really help, but alas nothing. The thing that DOES annoy me though is that they don't take account of essential outgoings such as travel to work. I gave this example on another thread where my sister's hubby used to work (on IB now!) locally and so had no travel costs and their rent was much lower than our mortgage. Overall, we had about the same amount of wages coming in as travel costs were deducted from source due to company loan to buy a rail season ticket. However, as our housing costs were higher (not a major issue) but because my hubby has to pay 2500 per year just to get to work, we got NO additional help, whilst they got loads! So, we had less in real terms to live on, whilst they had more because of lack of travel costs and lower housing costs but were deemed poorer! Now that really annoys me!!!! My hubby goes to work where he can get it and actually afford to pay his housing costs -which unfortunately is in London. The pay locally is really poor compared to London, so he can't afford to get a job locally.0

To be fair, you are only worse off because your boyfriend will not share his earnings. The goverment cut your benefits because once you are a couple you are expected to behave as one by pooling money and sharing bills.
You aren't going to lose the roof over your head. Your child will still be fed. Perhaps you should look at your total income instead of greiving for the STOP GAP OF BENEFITS you are not entitled to anymore.

But you are wrong !! There is loads of help for families, the help offered is often means tested but it is still available if your income is low enough.
There is loads of help that is not even means tested, Child benefit being one of them.
I think tax credits is very generous. you and your partner would get 1k a year if you had a baby under one in the house and you currently shoul dbe getting around £500 a year in tax credits.0 -

50 hours a week:ASexy_fufu:A0 -
Just two points here. 19K is £281 per week after tax, on a standard 503L tax code. You may need to change your figures for calculation.
Secondly the minimum tax credit figues is £547 per year for those earning less than the 50k or whatever the limit is. Thats what it comes to whatever i put in anyway."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of."
