    precooked chickens bought on Friday - are they safe to eat

    Absolutely yes. I regularly do this with spinach because there is no way we'd eat the whole bunch at once. My method is to wash it, dump into a saucepan on the hob, shove the lid on and let cook for 2-3 minutes in whatever residual water is on the leaves. I then decant it into thin takeaway boxes. (Note: I've tried putting a large lump in either end of bigger takeaway boxes, but you usually end up with water collecting between the two lumps and freezing solid, which makes it hard to break them apart.)

    I finally gave in and bought a second hand (albeit like new) halogen oven. Does anyone have any tips for cooking in them or recipes/recipe book recommendations. Looking for simple recipes that would be easy and cheap to make.

    Anyone know if I can freeze homemade gnocchi ok? Then do you defrost before cooking or just cook longer?
