Well, I'd pop it back in the fridge and use it on cereal, personally. I might not give it to him on cereal - depends how old, I suppose - but I'd happily use it myself.

    Hi

I made a cheesecake on Saturday with egg whites and popped the two egg yolks in a ramekin in the fridge. I was going to use them today to make a sabayon but have just looked online and found that all the information about storing eggs I can find says they will be ok stored in the fridge "in a tightly sealed container". They are not even covered. Should I throw them away?

Also, how long will the cheesecake store for given it has raw egg white in?

I don't know, but doesn't Royal Icing have raw egg white in? That stuff lasts forever. Well, maybe not forever, but ...

do listen to anyone who disagrees with me, of course, and remember all the warnings about not feeding raw eggs to the vulnerable!

I'm not surprised! :rotfl: Since I have no idea what a sabayon is, and no time to google it, I have no idea if it would be OK or not - do tell if you tried it or not!

I'm not sure if I'm asking on the right thread but I'm trying to find a recipe for cheesecake that my mother used to make in the sixties. It was the usual digestive biscuit base and used dream topping in the mix. I have a feeling she got it at a tupperware party when she bought the cheesecake storer!
The only recipe that I can find has 3 sachets of Elmlea dream topping in and I'm sure that she was too frugal for that!
    Can anyone help please?

    Hi Eenymeeny,

These links have some cheesecake recipes using dream topping. Hopefully you'll be able to find one that's similar to the one your mum used to make.

Thanks for the above links Pink.
Just saw a great idea there on the first one I looked at. Namely, to use the outside ring of a cake tin directly on the plate and make the cheesecake inside that! That has always been something that drove me nuts! Used to make it in a springform tin, then try to slide it off- never worked. Similarly using greaseproof etc.
Will definitely be doing this from now on!

I don't know about jam, but you used to be able to buy tinned oranges for the purposes of making marmalade ...
