    2. DH split the underarm seam on his waterproof jacket this morning. Can I just sew this up like any other seam? I have been looking online and have found specialist waterproof clothing repair companies, but they charge a fortune! It's only a few weeks old so don't want to muck it up and don't want to return it to the shop as it was bought on sale and they don't have any of the same style.
Notwithstanding Squeaky's excellent link, did he tear the fabric or did the stitching break? If it's just the stitching that went then yes, I'd say you can sew it up as usual, BUT you'll want to try to use the same holes or you risk the fabric tearing.

True - but they might use some sort of sealant in the join as well...?

Plus a thread that won't act as a wick and pull water through?

hi all, I am re-posting this here as I posted it in the wrong place. thanks for your help xx

hi all, I am planning to make some fruit tarts for a birthday party. They will be approx 3" in size and shallow. I am going to put a little fruit in them and probably cover them in quick jel. Is this a good idea? should I maybe put a small bit of custard in them and the fruit on top and then cover them in jel? would this work? or any other ideas please?

sorry if its in the wrong place but I didn't know where to put it.

    thanks xxx

It wasn't the "wrong" place - just a thread where it clearly got lost among other posts. :)

Lots of people keep a watchful eye on this thread.

My thought... fruit in jelly and then custard on top :)

It's the stitching. I will use a sealing glue and stitch it. Thanks for the tip on using the same holes. :T

How can I clean the base of my iron? I have used the scourer bit of a sponge but that doesn't work.

    Thanks

I've done strawberry and mixed fruit tartlets about the size you are thinking of and used some marscapone let down with a bit of double cream in the base then put some fruit on top and the jelly glaze on top of that. Only word of caution would be not to make them too far in advance - you don't want a soggy bottom!!

At the week-end, I managed to bag a bargain - 3 packs of fetta in olive oil and herbs for one pound (english money).

My question is, can I freeze these? Will the quality be compromised? If not, I will just have fetta salad every day for the next three weeks!

    Thanks in advance.
