NCP say wrong ticket bought at Milton Keynes
Comments

Almost everything I see and read says ignore this as they will never pursue it, because there are to many flaws, if this really is the case why is any ticket paid?
I don't think anyone has answered this very pertinent question directly. The reason people pay these tickets is that they are designed to trick people into thinking they are real penalties and that the company giving them out, has the power to both give out real penalties and enforce them. But because people are scammed into thinking they do, around 65% of people just pay up!
So, that is the reason they get paid, but of course no one should pay these tickets... but while the majority do, it is a business and business is good!0 -

Thank you to all those who posted particularly scheming_gypsy & inflatable armadillo.
I acknowledge the advice given, although I notice that the only links given are to those that refer to how stupid I am for not taking the advice given, and not reading the stickies (which I have), however no links are given to where this advice has actually worked.
It should be realised that different people have different tolerance levels of stress, and some people may consider it money well spent to bring an end to the situation, rather than wondering every morning for the next two years what the postman may bring. I realise this is playing into the hands of the operators, but what price peace of mind?
Furthermore, apart from advice I did also solicit opinion and comment on the actual situation of purchasing a ticket from the wrong machine.
As this is a fairly recent change in Milton Keynes, I felt the publishing of the events could help prevent others from falling into the same trap.0 -
The reason no links are given to where this advice has worked is because if you follow it, nothing happens and you can not link to nothing.
Nothing as in they just go away and look for another mug.
So hence why there is nothing to link to !
I however feel from your tone that your backside has fallen out over this and you are looking for someone to tell you to pay it ?
So if you do pay, budget for £150 in TOTAL as they usually come back for more money in late payment charges, even if you dont pay late, its a scam you see and like all scammers they come back for more until you do ignore them.
The advice you have been given is the magic bullet that has worked thousands of times and that advice is do nothing.
Zilch, zero, ignore, dont write, dont phone, dont argue, see my signature for why it works.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
@vax2002
So it is not possible for people who say after two years to come back and post somethin like "It is now to years since I ignored my ticket, and I have heard nothing"
As I said in my generic statement, (not about me), some people, particularly the elderly and disadvantaged, feel very stressed and concerned about a situation like this, and there are those who still have faith in the human race and start from the premise that people are essentilly honest. They naturally wonder why they should believe one person over another, after all, 'because I say' so is not a sound justification.
Comments like "your backside has fallen out over this" are neither constructive, supportive or helpful.
If you would like to know my own personal fealings about this, they are as follows.
I am very angry to find out this information/situation about Private car park contractors, and I want to hurt NCP for it.0 -
Most people like yourself are given the same advice and as it works we very rarely hear any more from them. Its quite certain that had anything unforseen happened then they would have been back pronto to tell us (this comment does not include messages from ppc's who post daft comments in the hope of muddying the waters and causing confusion) Bear in mind that if a ppc is caused real financial distress it may be worth their while to go to county court to teach the victim a lesson. The fact that they always lose is immaterial, enough ripples could be caused to make waverers pay up. So the best advice is to ignore, ignore some more and keep your head down, they do go away.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

How can they tell you about nothing ?
I am very angry to find out this information/situation about Private car park contractors, and I want to hurt NCP for it.
We have told you how to do this, you ignore them and keep your money, that is all they want, your money, they dont care about anything else, but you want to beat them at their own game ?
A game where they make the rules, they decide who wins ?
How on earth do you think you can win ?
All you will succeed in doing is giving them enough evidence to chance court, anything you write, telephone or e.mail can be used against you in court.
They are stipulating that a contract has been breeched, for a contract to exists there has to be consideration and acceptance if you argue over the contract, you admit both considering it and accepting it and that puts you in a very weak legal position.
The advice to ignore them is the best in the house.
It provides them no threads to pull, no admittance of contract, nothing ! not one scrap of evidence to mount a legal claim.
I understand your frustration but please listen to the experts on this
Nobody will get hurt if you do ! Except the scammers pocketHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
One thing I notice from all the people on this thread who have advised ignoring, and on many others, no one has said "it is now X months/years since I ignored mine, and I have heard nothing yet"
I have set reminders in my organiser for 6 months, 1 year and 2 years and I will come back and update the progress, so that others can see if it genuinly works, and if necessary, extend it beyond that.0 -
I have ignored the lot.
One even refuse to write me tickets, I park next to the ticket man in one and tell him I am having a walk round town before shopping in the supermarket, as I know the planning regulations stipulate free parking for use of retail park and surrounding local businesses .
He just ignores me completely, he has even has stopped posing for my pictures....
I took him a Christmas card last week, he just laughs, I gave him it, it broke the ice and I asked, can I have just one more of those tickets, I got a two word reply .
There is nothing else he can do, because I dont take them seriously and as there is there to earn cash, he puts his time in to concentrating on those who do take the threats seriously .Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If it helps, it's now 7 months since I got a ticket, the third and most recent letter arrived at least 3 months ago (probably more). But when can I say they've given up? I can't, which is why most people don't come back to say they've "won". Remember, apart from the regulars here, most people stumble in after getting a ticket, seek advice, and (we hope) move on. It's human nature not to bother to come back after N months of silence. So it is not possible for people who say after two years to come back and post somethin like "It is now to years since I ignored my ticket, and I have heard nothing"
And the PPCs rely on this and exploit people's better nature. Please don't be one of them. This is why this forum has to keep over and over reassuring people that it's OK to ignore.
Don't bother. They are far more thick-skinned than you or I, and I have no doubt they've heard (and ignored) it all before. In fact, they rely on people's righteous indignation to enter into a discussion with them, at which point you're "hooked" into a much longer trail of threatening letters than if you just ignore them. There are times where biting your tongue is best policy - this in one of them, however much it seems wrong.I am very angry to find out this information/situation about Private car park contractors, and I want to hurt NCP for it.0
