NCP say wrong ticket bought at Milton Keynes

I guess I am not seeing the same view as you - but I do opt for the 'old' view of the forum which is a different format and isn't that garish green that I guess you are looking at! There is nothing in the top r-h corner on my screen here.
And why would people on the forum go to that link you mention? No newbie has ever in years mentioned it before you, to my knowledge. The reverse is true sometimes - some newbies find the articles first after a Google search and then later find the forum.
Yep we did get frustrated with this thread because the OP was argumentative and dismissive of the advice that we give freely here. And then later, he expected me to know/remember 'he' was not a 'she' based on a post from days earlier, on page one, mentioning his wife. I could say the same and expect other people here to remember I am female based on other posts, but I don't. It's a busy forum.
I really think us regulars are wasting our time on this thread although I do wish petal1 luck in sorting out the problem caused by NCP. I did say earlier that I could see his viewpoint, I can see where he is coming from, being proactive.
My only concern was that this very thread makes things a bit confusing for newbies who are normally given very consistent advice to ignore everything. And my other concern here is your aggressive way of posting & stirring. Please do chill, it's the season of goodwill after all. But out of curiosity - how on earth do you know what newbies are thinking?!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

By argumentative you mean I did not simply take the rather obsessively focused "advice" without question, almost fascist in your approach.
I was not dismissive of your advice either, I said quite clearly several times that if I did not succeed with my approach with the owners, then I would take the advice of the forum and take no further action.
It seems for some reason people are displeased that I took a slightly different approach with what I considered to be (and still do) a situation that was perhaps a little different to others in that NCP and/or the owners have got something wrong, and I got a positive result in my favour.
I have not advocated anywhere that this should be the approach in every situation, but I do strongly suggest it with the situation in Milton Keynes.
So to make accusations that I might be misleading others who newly find themselves in the position of having a private parking ticket is completely false, and again only goes to show the obsessive nature being presented.
To be honest, the attitude of many people on this forum is exactly the same as the Private Parking companies, in that yes we've seen it all before and it's all the same so it must be the same.
As I have said before, by one letter, and one phone call, I have achieved at least two of my objectives. One I have brought to the attention of the appropriate authorities a problem that exist in Milton Keynes, and also I now know I will not be getting any more correspondence from the Parking company, solicitors, debt claimers or anybody else on this subject, and that gives me a certain comfort which cannot be taken take away.

Well and here was me thinking that with post #24 on the first page, I had helped you with all the links I found. Links that were found on Google, which you could have found yourself instead of complaining wrongly that 'no-one ever comes back to report a success after ignoring'.
But what I got from you was to be accused of calling you a lesbian and then being a fascist.
Good luck with your crusade against NCP but I am out.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Chill !! it's only a forum !!! and it is the season of good will !!!

Sorry, forgive me for having an opinion, it's clearly not allowed on this sub forum . As for being aggressive ~ you will have to explain that one ! . You carry on with your crusade, no doubt the parking companies are quaking in their boots, and perhaps you could have the link above changed to forum rule 1 "YOU MUST OBEY" !
Anyway I'm gone . The smell of over inflated smug egos here is stifling !0 -
Towards the beginning of this thread I said I would come back and report the situation.
When the original problem occurred, I spoke to several people and discussed it on this forum. Naturally I got conflicting advice, some saying ignore it, some saying give it ago.
After some careful thought and research, I decided to attempt to resolve the matter. I have to say, the backlash, primarily on this forum for doing so was quite unexpected, often quite aggressive and chastising. As I mentioned, I had solicited advice from several sources, so whatever I did was going to be against someone’s advice.
My appeal to NCP provided the predictable response, rejection. I then took the matter up with the owners of the car park, and after one letter and one phone call the matter was fully resolved. Naturally I was very pleased with this, and I was also pleased that I could inform others who had been caught out by this particular scenario at Milton Keynes.
You may be wondering why I am posting after all this time. Well, there are two reasons, firstly, I promised I would, and I do like to try to be true to my word.
The second reason being, I wanted to say how much peace of mind I have enjoyed over the last year, with no worrying about whether the matter has been closed, or could I expect some threatening letter to arrive on my door mat. Without doubt that peace of mind has been well worth the small effort.
I acknowledge this will not be the case every time, however I do believe it is important to look at the merits of each individual case, and that a blanket “never respond” is not necessarily the best advice.0 -
Many thanks for coming back and reporting your success. :T
In fact, now that we have the new POPLA appeals service which costs a PPC £27 plus VAT every time, we are now advising most people who are up for a fightback, to appeal - and then appeal again to POPLA (applies for incidents after 1st October in E&W only and for BPA AOS member PPCs only).
Also, we have seen success, like you did, by complaining to the landowner/retailer/business on site, especially where there is obvious crass unfairness in a 'ticket'. The easiest way is to make the first 'appeal' to the PPC worded strongly as a complaint instead, sent by email and copied into the retailer/landowner responsible. We have seen the other party get the 'ticket' cancelled because - unlike PPCs - they don't like complaints and don't have to focus on ££££ in fake PCN revenue to cloud their decision.
This approach also hooks the PPC permanently in the driver's direction if there would be any issue with the registered keeper getting junk mail threatograms (such as with a hire/company/lease vehicle).
Some people will always prefer the old advice to ignore and of course that's the definitely recommended course of action for any incident in Scotland or NI or involving a non-AOS member (or banned AOS member).
Well done for getting it overturned.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I am new to Forums so please be nice.
Had the same problem a few months ago (parked in the small corner of Milton Keynes car park administered by NCP but bought ticket from MK Council).
I have read many threads and followed the advice to completely ignore all letters. Bit worried by 2 things though so advice please.
1. One thread said that debt collectors came to house and clamped the car - can this really happen?
2. Latest letter from Newlyn says that case will now be referred back to NCP to follow court proceedings - will this happen as I have not prepared for a case?0 -

Please start your own thread as it gets confusing mixing up different cases.NCPdilemma wrote: »I am new to Forums so please be nice.

I don't know how many months ago you decided to ignore this charge but I first came here over six months ago with the same issue & NCP cancelled the charge when I sent them the challenge in post #18 of this thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/45001410
