Who's your Olive Oil soap by, Savvy? I thought the African black soap would be good on my skin as it too has no chemicals, preservatives, etc and is made from just shea butter, palm kernel oil and a lye made from banana leaves and is supposed to be good for dry, eczema-y skin! It does give a wonderful creamy lather but my skin feels dry immediately after washing. Does anyonelse find February the worst month for dry skin or is it just me?0 -
Hi just to say i use olivia olive oil soap from Holland and Barrett and i love it.It moisurises the skin and leaves it so soft, and it helps keep the wrinkles at bay.0

Has anyone tried this?

I was a little unsure about some of the ingredients, and whether it would be better to just get some of the oil on its own.0 -

Hello
Just thought I would add a comment about rosehip oil and eczema - I had an eczema flare up whilst away from home for a few days and hadnt taken any of my normal medication with me, so used some of the rosehip oil on my belly just in desperation to see if it would help.. and it was very soothing.. only used it for 2 days before I could use my normal treatment so not sure if it would 'cure' it, but deffo helped ease some of the insane itching!
Mind I'll have to check out the littlegreennursery thing, I've been paying a bloomin ransome for the rosehip oil!

Day 5 of rosehip oil and skin (face) is looking a bit red and feels dry and rough and taut. I'm wondering if this is what Shokadelika was talking about skin getting dry and flaky and going through a 'shedding' phase when you stop using petrochemical products and go onto natural although I'm still using my normal moisturiser with sunscreen in the day and only using rosehip oil at night. Anyone else experienced this or got any advice to offer? Curiously enough have been using rosehip oil and shea butter on my hands and they feel lovely! Have stopped using the African black soap as it seems to be too strong for my skin.0

Beetrootjuicer - my skin gets on really well with Rosehip oil. I use it on slightly damp skin (Rose Water) then massage the Rosehip gently in. I don't have very many lines but found that the year before I started using Rosehip Oil that a couple of new ones were appearing, so I panicked ! Started using the Rosehip oil and I don't seem to have any new ones. The ones I have are pretty much the same I think, hard to tell really but they don't seen to be any worse. But the big difference I see when I use it regularly is that my skin tone is great, I get a sort of rosy glow and I get fewer spots.
I've been a bit slack recently and am horribly spotty, so am trying to get back on the case with it. I'm not sure about the red flaky skin, I don't remember this but think I might have had a few spots initially which cleared up after a week or so.
Don't know about the African Black soap either but we use the Dr Bronners liquid soaps here. Again got them in the health food shop but I think you can get them on line if you google.0 -
Thanks, Amarillo, that's encouraging to hear. I may have this wrong but as I understand it retinol works like a skin peel so am wondering if the tretinoin in the oil is causing the slight redness and flaking and hopefully it will settle down. Will persevere.0

I've not experienced what you have beetrootjuicer, but I was already using a natural moisturiser before I started using rosehip oil, as I've stopped using chemicals on my face.Honorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts.
