Has anyone used the Rio rosehip oil here. I bought it from my local health shop - is this any good & the same as the little nurserys ? i used it on my eyes as suggested and it has softened the eye wrinkles - yeah - and was very soft. However noticed no differance on my face which made me worry that it is the right oil, i would be grateful for your advice , Thanks .0

I'm wondering if this is what Shokadelika was talking about skin getting dry and flaky and going through a 'shedding' phase when you stop using petrochemical products and go onto natural although I'm still using my normal moisturiser with sunscreen in the day and only using rosehip oil at night. Anyone else experienced this or got any advice to offer? Curiously enough have been using rosehip oil and shea butter on my hands and they feel lovely! Have stopped using the African black soap as it seems to be too strong for my skin.0

Great thread!
DD and I both suffer from eczema and avoid all the nasties with perfume, parabens etc. I use the olive oil soap as prev. mentioned in the thread but have found that oats have been fab for soothing DDs eczema. I put about 2 handfuls in a cloth bag and hang it under the hot water in the bath.0 -

This site does a comprehensive range of organic base oils, including Rosehip at very competitive prices - but I think Greens Organics have a slight edge on the postage costs.
I haven't tried either of them yet, but am planning to do so soon. I've been using organic Rosehip oil as an ingredient in my home made body oils for a couple of years, mixed with organic olive, sunflower, and coconut - whatever I have to hand at the time!
Has anyone found a UK supplier for organic Sea Buckthorn oil - berry and/or seed? It's supposed to have extraordinary powers for skin and general health, but the only organic supplier I found was in USA. I've had one bottle from there, but it sometimes takes ages to get stuff from USA, and I've run into extra customs charges on one occasion which added half as much again to the cost of the item I bought. I'd much rather buy from UK."Be kind. For everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle." Plato

I use olive oil daily and sometime I use Jacobs Organic Alovera lotion also. I went for a while with dry skin but now my skin is the best it has ever been.. but I can't tell if this is also because I am pregnant..
You most read this ..10-Minute Facelift: Lessen the Signs of Ageing the Natural Way (Hamlyn Health & Well Being) book...http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0600611663/ref=pd_ys_iyr23/202-7271754-2441446
This books explains in an easy way about the skin.. how to live the way for younger skin (food, sleep, polution, lifestyle, massage). It explains why shop bought beauty products don't really add value to your skin in terms of the skin layers etc. It then also goes into all the different type of oil for your skin type.. shows you how to make your own face masks and also how to exercise your face so that it is toned and with a toned face muscle you have a toned / younger face.
My midwife adviced that we use olive oil on my newborn son (definately not Johnson & Johnson or anytihng like that because of their delicate skin and their exposure to the chemicals in them) and now the whole family use it all over and as a treatment for our hair. We also use the olive oil soap.
Also oils are soooooooooooooo cheap compaired to using those expensive creams and the oils are more effective. A large bottle of organic olive oil in the most expensive shop is miles cheaper than the average lotion from Superdrug per ml.
My friend in her 60's has been using Almond oil for 30 years and she looks like she is in her 40's and good looking woman in her 40's not a haggered 40's woman.
Info from Ebay about the oil.

Has anyone found any study or something like this that states the benfits of rosehip oil? what about http://www.naturalingredient.org/Articles/ASCC_paper.pdf

Thanks Kitekat, I'll have a browse in those sites!
I see a lot of health sites are now selling sea buckthorn capsules - for it's omega properties, it has 3, 7 and 9.
It's supposed to help any kind of skin problem, up to and including radiation damage! I may send for the American organic one, and start using it in my body oil, and taking it internally too. I see lots of UK products which contain organic sea buckthorn - where are they all sourcing it from?
I've been looking at a site called Kobashi - they use gas-chromatography / mass-spectroscopy to test the products they stock, which reveals contamination (they explain the process on the site!). Products are not cheap, but there's some peace of mind in knowing they've checked them."Be kind. For everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle." Plato

Almond oil makes a great cleanser and moisturiser. It's excellent for keeping wrinkles at bay and amazingly, it's also a natural sunscreen! Apparently!organic and natural skincare queen0

Many thanks for Shokadelika for starting this useful thread. Have ordered my rosehip oil and looking forward to using it.
Can someone advise me on a good, natural, general anti-ageing skincare range that is reasonably priced?- I assume you're not supposed to use the rosehip oil to replace your normal moisturiser (or are you?) so I was wondering what you folks would recommend for general cleanse, tone and moisturise.
I've been using the Energys range from Higher Nature for a couple of months now (see www.energysskincare.com)-it's expensive and to be honest I haven't noticed a great deal of difference in my skin. I'm also quite surprised that none of the moisturisers contain a sunscreen- so I'm looking to change my skincare routine! Any advice gratefully received.0
