Have I missed something?
Surely nothing can truly be described as " Anti Ageing " .. we will all be a day older tomorrow, creams...oils or nothing at all.:doh:0 -
Please could someone tell me which of the 2 oils for mousterising face etc. is best, or isn't there much difference.
Thank youplease.I have been using Bio Oil (PurCellin Oil)for some time and I would like to know if this is similar to the Rosehip Oil recommended.

Have you tried Rose oil or Neroli? If your skin is particularly dry a very cheap Vitamin E boost is pure Wheatgerm oil. You need to be careful what oils you use if your pregnant of planning on becoming pregnant though. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. The rosa mosqueta oil you are talking about is not at all comparable with essential oils. It is more like a carrier oil than an essential oil.
I used this oil on my son and daughter last summer to help with chicken pox scarring and can assure you it is safe for children. It was recommended in Susan Clark's book ' What Really Works for children'.
As for using certain carrier oils on children some of you suggest sesame, coconut and sweet almond, I believe (as the mother of a severe nut/ seed allergy sufferer:eek: ) this could be a huge mistake with young children and would suggest (pharmacetical) olive oil is a far less toxic, sterile, gentle oil. Again, like others have said you have to be careful using essential oils during pregnancy and with children but Rosa mosqueta oil is fine as it is not in the same category.;)0 -
skyrocket wrote:I do know what you mean about the parabens but there are loads of actives that 'undo' the damage that parabens do. you don't have to use the canvas cream. if you have a nice organic, paraben free cream you can just add to that
xx
NO Parabens are small and are absorbed into the bloodstream via your skin you will be weeing them out hopefully when you go to the toilet.
There is no actives that can undo the damage.
I do not want skincare that cannot be broken down by the body naturally if I can't eat it I am not going to use it.
Manufactures are well aware that the preservative systems not just parabens the use in their products are absorbed into the body and blood stream.
remenber the safety of ingredients with cosmetics is topical nearly all of these ingredients have never been safety tested on their effects IN the blood stream.
In fact one of the most successful ways of getting drugs into your body is putting them into a shampoo...Are U getting enough Vitamin D in your life!?0 -

HI perfume in all its forms (up to 6000 different chemical combinations in normal scented or products which have not been safety tested and are simply listed as "parfum" on the label) is and can be extremely irritating to skin cells this includes essential oils think about it if you are causing irritation the skin everyday even at a cellular level it eventually going to show.
You do not need perfumed products it is to enhance the aesthetic value of a product and make you buy it.Think "oh that face cream smells lovely oh that shower gel ooh that shampoo think Herbal Essences Shampoo which has nothing (a Miniscule amount) herbal in it its all chemicals an illusion.!
Wheatgerm oil is a good choice though Extra Virg olive oil has more nutirents and is more stable and has squalene which is more like the sebum or oil your skin produces:D
Funny the hughely overrated Perricone (full of chemicals) range has Olive oil as one of its main ingredients. Are U getting enough Vitamin D in your life!?0 -
I am new to the MSE forum and have been really busy trying out loads of the moneysaving tips in the various sections and feeling much more optimistic about our finances this year.
Thank you so much for this thread, I have been using Rosehip Oil for just over a year now and have been paying £10 for 20ml for one in my local health food shop. I have just received a bottle from Little Green Nursery (very quick delivery) and it is 100ml for the same price as I was paying for 20ml. I was a bit worried what the quality would be like but it is lovely, so I am delighted :T0 -
Thanks OP I have just sent for the rosehip oil and look forward to attacking those ever blooming wrinkles.0

Would love to know what you think of rosehip oil as you've been using it for a year. I've been using it for 4 days now and still have my lines and wrinkles. Am I doing something wrong? :rotfl: I was impressed with Little Green Nursery, too. I also ordered Shea butter and African black soap (shea butter and palm kernel oil) from Akamuti as recommended by Shokodelika at the beginning of this thread. Very impressed with the Shea butter - even after just one day it improved my hands. OH was so impressed he used some too and again it's worked wonders on his hands which are dry and painfully cracked from work. To the MSer who asked does it smell (sorry, I can't remember, who it was) - yes, it has a, to my mind, faintly medicinal, licqoricey smell - my dog thinks it extremely interesting! Not sure about the soap, that seems to be as drying as ordinary soap but it's early days yet and I'll persevere. EDIT: To the remark about the smell of shea butter I should have added that this is a block of organic virgin shea butter - I don't know if the solvent-extracted stuff in commercial brands smells the same.0
