Mumof2boys - I know where you're coming from! I used to park the boys in front of Cbeebies with a drink and something to nibble, then I would curl up on the sofa under a blanket - usually with one or both of them with me - and I'd snooze whilst they were watching TV. I might only get 5 minutes, but every little helps!
First load of washing on airer, DW on and second load in WM. Tackling sitting room today and ironing pile this evening. Soaked aubergines in salt now to wash them and make moussaka. Going back on the 15 minute burst of cleaning activity as I find that really helps. Going to a Prohibition themed evening do on 3 December. So am buying a black bobbed wig and a silver hairband - under £5 for both, and then will wear with black and silver dress with silver shoes - thats my glamour for the Christmas season! Have planned red mini dress with thick tights and flat boots for Christmas day! Like to think I can look glam but still cook up a storming christmas dinner!
Not long now till Christmas - christmas fair in 3 weeks!! Then I can power down!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning everyone
Dull and damp here again today but it's November so what do I expect
Plans for today are baking session with DD, my mum and her elderly friend are popping round for a cuppa. then after nursery drop off I am helping my friend re hang her curtains as they are too big and heavy to do on her own. So I really need to get my butt into gear.
Shall be stopping of course at 11am
Tea will be erm....erm....erm can I get back to you
Farmers Wife - :T:T excellent news and I hope to goodness that Cafcas get on the case quick with his current GF. Makes me feel really sad actually for their baby and the sort of life it's likely to have
findingmyway - welcome and commiserations on the break up of your relationship. Hang around here, the ladies (and gents when we have them) are a fab bunch xxx
mumof2boys - power naps are THE way to go
Hester - Why am I not suprised?Thing is though what have you got to lose by applying? They can only say no and you've lost nothing. Don't let your age put you off applying, you have a great deal of experience going for you.
Lou - if you don't eat PLEASE drink something xxx

JackieO - I echo what you have said. Is there anyone else out there, anywhere in the world, who would like to join us here? You'll be assured of the warmest of welcomes from everyone here! For my own part, although I'm in France, I would be lost with being able to pop into MSE; it helps make me feel closer to home.
Bramble - don't forget chicken; if you buy a whole one and joint it yourself - (here's a couple of links to show you how http://www.deliaonline.com/how-to-cook/chicken-and-other-poultry/how-to-joint-a-raw-chicken.html http://recipes.howstuffworks.com/tools-and-techniques/how-to-cut-up-chicken2.htm ) you'll be amazed how many portions you can get out of it, as well as the carcass for making soups and stock. I save up until I have two or three carcasses, then roast them all, pick all the meat off, and it can be used in pies, curries, and so on. Also, look for lamb shanks, pork hocks, and brisket of beef (which needs slow braising in the oven).
Bitsy - I have just stopped at 11am French time, and I will do so again at 11am British time, happy for the chance to remember twice. I'm glad that Martin is closing the forum for the two minutes' silence, too.
Taplady - I bet you'll really enjoy that first cuppa of the day. It's horrid having to wake up knowing you can't have one, isn't it?
Well, the washing is on the line; I've made the Impossible Pie but will bake it at the same time as the sausage casserole, to save putting the oven on twice. I've got the vacuum cleaner and the cloth for damp-dusting out but have done nothing with either yet! I've prepped all the veg for dinner, cleaned the bathroom, put the food out for the birds, and I just need to walk down the lane with the wheelie bin because the bin lorry can't get itself down to the houses here. It's fine this weather but, as it's about 150 yards away, you have to wrap up warm in the winter! Then you have to go and collect it after it's been emptied - once a week with household rubbish, and once a fortnight with the recyled stuff. Luckily, the bottle bank is very handy - every little village and hamlet here has its own because they seem to drink alcohol like we Brits drink tea and coffee!
I must also do the ironing but there's no point putting the board up when I still have to vacuum - well, that's my excuse!

Morning all!
The sun is attempting to shine hereand it's almost the weekend :j
Hello to the newbies, I'm quite new to all this forum malarky but they seem a lovely bunch on here.
FW- that is fab news!
Julie, Lou, Taplady and antone else feeling more than under the weather - take it easy and get some rest please.
OS, I made home made chicken stock overnight in my SC and the shreds of meat and carrots have been mashed up for the cats' tea. Lunch is beef soup made from left over stew. There wasn't really enough stew for a meal but blended with some water, it's made enough soup for both of our lunches
Tonight is FIL's 65th do so someone else is cooking my tea for a change :j
Hope you have a lovely day, take care xxx0 -

Morning all, and fantastic news FW. 2 years is long enough for him to find something/someone else to obsess over. Feel very sorry for his current GF and that poor little baby.:(
Welcome Findingmyway. You'll love it here and will soon sort everyone out. What to do this weekend? Spoil yourself rotten for a start. Shopping, hairdo, new book, pile of magazines, long hot bath with every smellie you possess, girlie DVD, long phone calls to friends, start a new hobby, in fact anything to make yourself feel better. This is no time to be thinking OS, (rushes off to wash mouth out). Start your new life on Monday. Love and hugs.
Welcome Mumto2boys. Been there but my two boys are now in their 40s. Snatch every bit of sleep you can. It will be good practise for when they are teenagers and you are waiting for them to come home from parties etc.
Gold star for you JulieG for still looking after your Ex. As if you didn't have enough on your plate.:A
Haven't really started today properly. Vicaress is Chaplain to the British legion so is busy, busy today. this morning was all 'where's this, I can't find that.' Breathed a sigh of relief when she finally went. Spent a little while at 11am thinking about servicemen past and present.
Just about to give my bedroom a deep clean and do a quick dash to the shops for a few essentials so I don't have to go out tomorrow.
Jacket potatoes for lunch, with cheese and HM coleslaw. Tonight will be a small snack. Have just gone 24 hours without sugar in my endless cups of coffee. It's got to work, hasn't it?:question:I believe that friends are quiet angels

I shouldn't complain about him teething really, he has slept through the night since he was 2 weeks old and this week is the first time (due to teeth numbers 5&6) that he has woken up, he generally is a happy baby who loves his bed, its just a bit of a shock to my knackered self to be up!
As for trying to rest on the sofa with CBeebies on, my 2 year old insists i sing all the songs/dance all the dances with him, pesky boy lol, if i so much as look comfy, i get "mummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmy" as loud as he possibly can. Ah i love my boys :happyloveStayHome * StaySafe * BeKind0 -
