So, with my 1000th post I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone that's supported me on this road, kicked me back into shape in January when I fell off the wagon, and generally meaning I don't want to blow the budget cos I'd feel awful having to confess to you all!

Well, had a supremely lazy day - was off sick from work with a dodgy tummy, and ended up watching DVDs all morning, then a friend popped round for coffee this afternoon. I only got dressed actually because I had to collect from curtains that I got on freecycle - which I am sooooo happy about as I've got massive windows in the living room, and lived without any curtains for 6 months because I didn't want to pay out!
Being at home also meant it was a complete NSD - I don't manage that many as I'm awful at remembering to take lunch to work with me, so yay - payday tomorrow and I've still got £10 in my purse! :jTotal Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

Payday, woo!
My overdraft is officially GONE!!!! Phoned up this morning to cancel it (they tried to persuade me to keep it for 'emergencies' - in the end I got it reduced to £100 only - and wasn't even too sure about leaving that there, but at least it means I won't get fees if I forget about a payment or something!
When I updated my signature this morning I was looking at some of the figures, and I've decided that there's 2 targets I want to hit pretty soon. The first is to wipe out the HSBC credit card - £372.04 by the end of June, and the second is to get to the point where I've paid off 50% of my debts - £525.07, also by the end of June if possible...
I'm still waiting on £50 from IR, £30 from switching utilities, have about £30 tracked in Quidco etc which will help, and I am determined to get selling loads more stuff on Ebay (no excuses now I've got broadband at home!)
Oh, and I've finished the month with £10 in my purse!Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

Wow Storm, what an inspiration your diary is. You have done so well, I cannot wait until I can clear one item and have that fantastic feeling.
:T0 -
Thanks BlackAngel, but I'm not so sure about inspirational - there's plenty of people on here that do far more towards their debt every day than me!
I have realised though that in terms of motivating myself I work better on smaller short-term targets - the £1K challenge with Emily et al worked well for me cos it made me focus just on the OD for 2 months rather than worrying about all the other debts as well. Now I've split my CC debt up around different cards with better APRs I'm intending to do the 'tackle one at a time' approach (if only I could get as organised & good at debt-busting as IA!)Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

Hi Storm, just read through your diary and wanted to congratulate you on your progress! I too am paying off an overdraft of a similar amount and am aiming to get it below the £1k mark soon, fingers crossed!MFW

Well, yesterday I had £11 in my purse and wasn't intending on visiting the cashpoint even though it was payday - and then I kept getting £2 coins! I did manage to avoid the cashpoint though - purely because my flatmate gave me cash for the DD bills that are going out today from my account, so must go and transfer that amount over actually...
I'm planning a very quiet weekend cos I've got 3 manic ones in a row after that, so my targets for the weekend are (and you're all to chase me on Monday about them!):
- List a load of stuff on Ebay (minimum 15 items)
- List books on Green Metropolic/Amazon (minimum 10 items)
- Do meal plan for June
- Phone my sister
- Clean the bathroom & kitchen
- Pick up backpack from my brother
- Buy curtain hooks so I can hang my new curtains
- Pick up my camping chair from mates house
- Get coin bags from bank & sort out small change
- Complete at least one job application (2 if the pack arrives in time)
Whew - I think that little lot should keep me busy!
Finger's crossed a DVD from LoveFilm should arrive tomorrow morning, so cheap bottle of wine & DVD night it is!Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

Oh dear - got my horoscope this morning:
A sudden shock might hit you today regarding money. This may relate to your personal finances, or it might involve business, but whichever it is you'll probably have to work hard to make ends meet, at least for now. Bear in mind, however, that this is a temporary situation. You aren't broke, and you'll manage whatever needs to be done. It's just having to do it that's a drag! Hang in there!
That's not good considering today is the day I'm going to buy various bits & pieces I'm going to need this month...Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

How's that list coming along Storm? Have you got those bits listed on ebay/amazon yet?
