I need a kick up the ****! Storm's DFW Diary

Options
OK, time to 'fess up - I've been appalling this month - ignore the sig, I spent on the cc and the balance is now £4504.96

Partly been the 'January is a long month' thing, not helped by having 6 family birthdays requiring presents, cards & meals out.

I then ended up buying a few bits in the sales, and even ended up putting food on there after a bad day at work when I just needed pizza & beer!

So, I'm confessing my sins as it were, I need a good telling off & motivation for February!

Hey, it's like a diet - if you pig out a couple of times then the scales will swing back up a little, but when you get back to the plan, you'll see the pounds drop off again.

Thanks to everyone whose kicked/been nice to me - what's really got me down is realising that one month of spending too much has put my CC balance above what it was at my LBM  However, to try and stay positive my overall debt HAS gone down as it's now just over £5500.

What I really want to do is pay it all off this year, which according to the snowball I will need £550 a month - big stretch for me! Still, I think I'm going to take up the challenge. I reckon I can put about £300 a month from my basic salary, then hopefully overtime/expenses will account for another £100 most months, leaving me with £150 extra a month to find...

I might turn this into a bit of a diary thread for myself, so I can track the 'extra' bits I can make each month, starting with February...

    £300 - from salary
    £100 - overtime

£16 - stuff to return to Next that didn't fit!
£20 - left to O/D limit (pay off CC)

£36 Total so far, so £114 to find...

Gonna try and get stuff on Ebay this weekend (though hampered as currently no internet access at home so have to come into the office to do it from here!)

  • It happens, at least you worked it out after one month of spending - now leave that credit card at home in the freezer so you cannot spend on it!

At least with going into work to list on ebay you won't be at the shops spending!
Proud to be dealing with our debts - We WANT to be debt free DEC 09

Just found out that payroll have messed up, and I've been overpaid by about £50 (thought it looked high this month!)

They probably won't get it sorted before the pay goes in (tomorrow) but it'll mean at the end of Feb I'll be £50 below my 'normal' rate cos I had no overtime this month at all!!!

Why is it always 2 steps forward & 1 step back???
