But again, this is not relevant. If the staff do their job properly, such a thing is not relevant.
The point still stands though, the behavior of the manager evidently did more harm to the company than if they had told the staff off out of earshot of the public. Just because the situation may not have arose a good manager looks to deal with any situation in the best way possible. The managers behavior was not this.

For the record, I am not a WUM. I own a profitable business turning over around £500,000 per annum and have seen my share of poor employees. Employers are clever people, our instincts are second to none.
I find it amusing that you can have a trunover of £500k a year, when you wouldn't have any staff in their right minds working for you.
Any credible employer SHOULD/WOULD know that gaining trust and favour from employees is by being firm but fair. My staff know that if they make a mistake, I will speak to them about it in a rational and fair way, but get my point across. 9 times out of 10 this works. Any good employer will do the same.
Overlord, it would be nice to know what sector of business you work in? It is obviously retail by the sounds of another post, what is it? a corner shop? If so that makes sense. You are probably a one man business, selling Lottery tickets and ciggies and this is how you make your ' fortunes' Any customer in their right mind wouldn't shop in there, if they knew how you dealt with staff.
OP I would go back in with the kids, any problems, go to the papers and give the garden centre stick. Nothing like having little kids unable to see santa, to give a company a bad name.0 -

yes i agree, but do it when their is a big queue, becuase if they chuck you out with your kids to see santa 9/10 other parents woulds walk out too, which will do more harm to the company along with informing the media0 -

Don't try to engage in any sensible conversation with them as it just won't be reciprocated.0 -
Because you don't get a bollocking for being a model employee and doing your job correctly.
But it's unprofessional to give said bollocking in public, in front of customers, and gives a poor impression of the business in question. If they're crap, haul them in the office and tell them there.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0
