  • I am really loving this sunny weather. I've noticed there is still quite a bit of food left in the fridge/cupboards, OH and the kids just haven't been as hungry as they usually are.....wish I could say the same for me!!

Have managed to save another £50 this week (OH's overtime), it won't be last but at least I'm saving it instead of [STRIKE]wasting[/STRIKE] spending it.

We've got a few big spends coming up -

    1. New tyres for my car (I've been going on about them for long enough)
    2. Sort my car insurance out.
    3. Get some bit and pieces for DS2 trip, new trousers, trainers, t-shirts, disposable camera - max spend £40
    4. Get euros for DS2 trip - bank my £2 pot which is upto £120 and then start my pot again.

    xx

  • Well another lovely day and at the moment very peaceful as I am home alone and that very rarely happens. DS1 and OH at work, DS2 and DS3 at football training (just on the field opposite the house).

Went shopping yesterday to get DS2 bits and pieces for his trip and ended up spending more than I had budgeted for. DS2 had new cricket trainers (they were half price) and DS3 had some trainers for football. So spent £50 plus £34 extra....oops.

Went to A1di and sburys on way home from work yesterday, total spend £65. I will need to get petrol today/tmrrw (don't know why i didn't get it yesterday!!) so whilst I have over spent on petrol budget this month OH has stayed well within budget as he went on his bike last week.

My book from ebay still hasn't arrived :(.

Also need to think of a birthday present for my childminder. Have done candles, pretty scarf, plants, picture frame, make-up bags before. She's worth a million pounds but unfortunately I don't have that amount spare at the moment. ;)

Off to do some jobs around the house and enjoy the peace and quiet.xx

  • What a lovely day, not a cloud in the sky. After getting a few jobs done this morning whilst everybody was out we have spend all afternoon just chillin in the garden.:)

I've had a refund for the book from ebay , no explanantion just my money back.

After our big spend yesterday I've just found out that DS2 has a school trip coming up costing £14. As usual all his mates are going so to keep up appearances so will he. Will take money from entertainment pot to pay for it.

DS1 has been let down by his friend. He got him a job at the bar he works at and he started last night. He said he would do any job for the money as his Mom was on an IVA and he wanted to help. He called DS1 today and said 'the job didn't feel right and it wasn't for him' and could DS1 let the boss know. DS1 isn't that keen on the job himself but he is still going. I know last time I spoke to his friends Mom she was saying how much debt she was in and how difficult it is to say no the her son. Makes me feel like an ogre [STRIKE]making[/STRIKE] encouraging our son to work. Hopefully it will pay off in the long run. xx

  • Managed another NDS yesterday, think that is number 8??

Today have got to get DS2 Euros and last minute bits for his trip.

I called Sky last night as the deal they did on our free line rental was about to run out and they've extended it for another 6 months.:T

Must look at car insurance tonight, haven't got enough in the pot to pay outright so will have to pay monthly.

and its payday today. Yippee!! xx

  • Wll I have just about tried everything to get my car insurance renewal cost down. I must say my present insurance company didn't seem bothered that that were so expensive.

I know it has gone up a lot more this year as my OH got caught speeding twice in 6 months last year and he is a named driver on my policy, first time he went on the course, second time 3 points on licence and those 3 points have put my car insurance up by £150 extra.

I have tried all the little tricks on the comparison sites, tweaked my occupation etc etc. If I don't have him on my policy as a named driver it will mean I have to drive everywhere when we go out together as a family..........which to be honest is not that often!!

    Will sleep on it.xx

Ooh no, don't feel like an ogre! I think working for their own money really teaches them to value it. Little Miss Happy got a part-time job as soon as she was old enough, and she still has it now (in a supermarket so she's transferred to a branch near her uni). She used to be very spend-happy but now she thinks about everything before buying it. For instance, if she fancies some make-up for £6 she will decide for herself whether it's worth working an extra hour for.

Wow, well done. I am definitely going to ring them.

£150 extra . Mr Happy got caught too earlier in the year. It's the only time it's happened so he could take the course but I find myself watching the speedometer every time I'm in the car with him now!
LBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!

Debt May 21: Unsecured ZERO! ZILCH! Mortgage £22,332
  • Alice my dh was also caught speeding (if you were reading my diary sometime between november & dec last year you will have seen the huge rant lol) and i have to apply for new insurance in July :( not looking forward to it! We only have one car so i have to let him go on ;) lol

Happynow- i also find myself watching the speedo too whilst he is driving.....silly thing is a few years ago i got one speeding ticket after the other and 9 points on my license  and i told dh not to speed down this one particular road!!!! (i got all points down one road grr how stupid am I) it's a country lane with great big wide roads and apparantly speed limit it 30 mph???!!! Never seen a house down there or a lamp post which would signal to me it was 30 (perhaps i was driving too fast :p- joke hehe) but got done anyway for driving at 34mph, 40 & 35 i think grrr!! And they were mobile vans doing each time so moved about! Anyway enough ranting lol not my diary to do it on :p

    Have a great day xx

  • HappyNow - It's certainly worth giving Sky a call. I've called them twice now and both times had a good money saving result (although I was on hold for ages before I managed to speak to a human!!). Good luck

DFW321 - I know what you mean about the mobile speed camera on county roads...aarrggh. Mind you the way some folk speed down our road (which is a cul-de-sac) we could do with a speedcamera at the bottom.

I've managed to get the quote down to £350 ish but this is with a company I've never heard of, will have to make a decision soon my insurance runs out on Thursday.

OH should of gone to work on his bike today but he's hurt his knee at work and can't bend it. Hope he'll be better tomorrow.

Must update spending diary have gone off track a bit the last few days :( xx
