...and the spending continues. We had to get new telephones (landline)last night. The ones we'd had haven't worked properly for about 6months and finally gave up yesterday. We had thought about doing away with the landline but have decided to keep if for now. So found new phones with £10 off at sburys so used the balance of the nectar points.

Also renewed the dogs insurance with sburys, we can pay monthly interest free and they will send us a £30 store voucher.

DS1 has now got 2 part time jobs.:j It will be better once he has passed his driving test as one of the jobs is glass collecting in a pub and one of us will need to pick him at 2.00am.

Upto £94 in the £2 pot. xx

  • afternoon alice :)

well done on ds1 getting another job :) there are so many young kids out there today who won't even go and get one never mind look for a second, you must be doing something right there!

What a shame about the aldi voucher, has it run out yet? if it is worth the petrol taking a trip there i would be tempted to go stock up on the stuff we use all the time such as juice, pasta & cereals etc ...but obviously if it's too far not worth it :( !

Well done on the £30 back from sainsbug and cheaper renewals :T i need to start looking around next month for car insurance. So annoying though as my pot that i'd saved for paying the insuraner in a oner has been spent several times over on fixing the car :( so will have to see if i can find a pay monthly option that has cheap apr & not ridiculous on its quote!!

You've also just reminded me i forgot to vote whilst out on the nursery run!!! Oh well.

    Hi Alice,

Well done to your DS for getting not 1 but 2 jobs . Boo to the 2am pick up though!! Like DFW said not many kids nowadays will go out and get a job. I always had a part time job, plus earned spending money through chores so il be encouraging my DD's to do the same. I loved having my own money!

Well done on the insurance, that will be nice when the Mr S voucher pops through the post.

Hope youve got some washing out today!! x

DWF321 -I thought the A1di voucher ran out yesterday but it runs out tomorrow so I've done a list which should take us just to the £35 and will go on the way home from work.

Mummy - How lucky were you to be able to put wasing, its has poured down all day today. I'm quite jealous ;).

Had a letter from Santander acknowledging my letter about the PPI on my old storecard. They will get back me within 4 weeks so will wait and see.

OH has some overtime coming up so I'm going to open another coop account so I can transfer the overtime and hopefully not spend it.xx

My car renewal came yesterday (not due until the end of the month) but I still have got enough money in the 'pot' to pay outright (know what you mean DFW321!!). Still (yes still) need to get 2 new tyres and its MOT is due at the end of June.

Went to A1di yesterday, still can't get over how much stuff I got for £50, but have still got to go to Sburys to get a few things from there (I know, I know) so I have pegged 2 loads of washing out already, will wait for next load to do then go to Sburys. Will hopefully get the grass cut, cars cleaned and at least run the vac around the house. Also must call bank to open another account and update spending budget.

Tomorrow the kids have got cricket (weather permitting), so looking forward to a day out. Not sure whats planned for Monday, they way I feel at the moment I could just sleep all day. I've been awake most of the night just thinking about things, which of course makes it more difficult to get back to sleep :(

DS1 starts one of his new jobs tonight. OH said he would stay up to pick him up, bless him :). I do hope that DS1 looks after his money, so far he's been OK with it and although none of the kids know the full story about our debt they do know about our budget and how we are trying to cut back.

Hope everybody has a great weekend.xx

    Morning Alice,

Thats fantastic that you have enough in your pot to pay your car insurance outright. Thats one thing we havent done yet but I would love to be in that position next year.

I havent been to Mr Al for ages, Mr T's keeps giving me money off vouchers at the til which keeps enticing me back!!

Yay to the washing, ive got some pegged out too.

    Enjoy your weekend xx

I've had a panic with the car today. Last week when I left work it starting to make a high pitched noise (a bit like I'd left the handbrake on but i hadn't!!), it only lasted for about 2 minutes, then the 'oil' light came on, so later that evening my OH topped up the oil.
Then today as I pulled off the drive i thought I saw an oil patch on the drive so called OH to see if maybe some had been spilt but he said not parked at a different angle when I came home, checked were I thought I'd seen oil - nothing there, so after a while moved my car only to see 'an oil patch'. By this time OH had gone out so unable to contact him and in a panic i decided that perhaps its time take my AA cover out again.
I was a member for over 15 years until just before Christmas (at the time we had our LBM) we just couldn't afford to renew our cover (which they offered me for £10 when I called to cancel). So after much begging and pleading I got basic cover with 50% off and peace of mind because tomorrow we're off to see my sister - 50mile trip.

Which leads me to still no NSDs for May yet!!!

Read the meters today £91 in credit so will ask for a revised bill so can adjust monthly payments. Better in our pocket than in theirs.:) xx

  • I got my £10 off tesco voucher too lol. But this time i was good and i went to Aldi and spent £70 on a whole trolley full that would have cost £140+ in tesco ( i know cos i did this last month with same food) and threw the £10 voucher in the bin! Was so proud of myself lol (small things and all :p) but everytime i have a voucher i always convince myself that;s the best deal when aldi is clearly cheaper ;) i did pop to tesco though to get stuff aldi doesn't sell but only spent around £20 :D xx

DFW321 -That's what I have to do, get the bulk of the shopping from A1di (the list of stuff we get from A1di's has certainly grown over the last fews months), but I still got back to Sburys to get a few bits from there.

I think today could be a NSD, at last!!! Had a lovely day yesterday out with the family, but did end up buying ice-cream for everyone, how did ice-cream get to £1.50each for 1 small scoop.

OH and DS1 still in bed, OH has stayed up for 2 nights to pick DS1 up from his new job, DS1 doesn't seem keen on the bar work not sure if it was just because he was tired yesterday or what. They have said there might be chance he can increase his hours on his other job but if his going to run a car then I think he need both jobs but we'll see. Think his girlfriend is a bit jealous of him working in the bar if the truth be told.:(

I thought it was supposed to rain today!! I'm going to get the ironing done now and then wash the cars (hopefully OH will give me a hand), don't really want to go anywhere in the car today as we need to save petrol and make today a NSD.

Hope everybody has a great day.xx
