  • I'm gutted today because it's sunny and windy here today, the perfect day for drying but I don't have any washing until tonight 😀 I leave the window on the latch in my spare room when I'm not here so keeps it ventilated, when I'm at home I just open the window a bit more to keep the room fresh

@Alice_in_Poorland I can't get anything dry outside this winter!  I hung out a couple of things on the line last week and the rest indoors on the drying rack, and by the time the inside stuff was dry there was no change to the outside stuff - and it wasn't raining.

I do a big shop once a month with once a week very mini top ups, but its just me to I guess that might make things easier to plan and buy for. It really does save on the 'go out for milk, come home with half the shop' issue though.
That’s a shame about the pegging out. I think we are just very lucky where our line in positioned in the sun and catches any breeze.
The last few weeks we’ve tried the big shop approach, and I have to say that does seem to be working better. I can’t be trusted just to pick up bread and milk. No helped by my ‘must have the fridge and cupboards full of food’ obsession. :-(

I have a tiny utility room, more a cupboard, very narrow but it's where the boiler is. It has a very high ceiling though and my old fashioned airer, (Sheila maid) on a pulley works a treat. I do have a fan there to prevent condensation and mould.
Hi V, I would love one of those old fashioned airers.  Certainly no pegging out this weekend.

  • It’s a good news and a bad news sort of weekend.
The good news is we have paid off another debt. The c@pital cc debt has gone. Yippeee.
So not including the money we owe for the trip last year, we only have 2 debts left to pay.
The bad news is the work we need doing to the house is going to cost £650. It has to be done. So the cost will come from savings (luckily I had started the savings fund up again) and the rest from the current account. So we will be having a lean month in March.
Will be finishing the month on 13 NSDs.  Have done meter readings and we are -£20.84. We only made a payment yesterday, and with the weather as it is at the moment it will take a bit longer to get back in the black.
I don’t mind being cold in the house but I don’t want the house to get damp.
I’m off to the hairdressers today. I am so looking forward to it but I always feel guilty whenever I go.
Hope everyone has a good weekend, despite the weather.
    Xx

Something I read on the old style board was to see if the path/patio etc was dry, if it was then your washing would also (be likely to) dry. I've tried this and it (mostly) works. Prior to reading the tip I didn't used to bother until better weather came along.

Great tip about the drying Spendless - thanks, will definitely be trying this.
Alice in response to your bread/milk shopping comments about not being able to be trusted to just pick these up - have you tried making your own bread?  We've been doing this for a while now both by hand and in a bread maker and it certainly helps.  I've also been getting the big 6pint milks to avoid a similar situation to you in being tempted by other bits.  Or do you have a milk delivery service in your area?  I used mine for years until they closed down and although it's a few pennies more per pint it saves in the long run by not grabbing other bits whilst at the shops.  Forgive me if these have already been mentioned.
I've been lurking reading your diary for years and you're doing amazingly!

I haven’t, and you know I have seen bread makers for sale on various sites and always think that would be a very tasty idea.  I hadn’t thought of the 6pint milk either. We did have a milk man delivering to our road but haven’t seen him recently. Could be worth me checking it out. Thank you for these and for you lovely comment.

Yes I read that somewhere. I’m terrible I peg out even if it really isn’t going to dry, just to get it out of the way. I know, I know. :-)
Good luck with your pegging out.
