  • Up to 5 NSDs but have to get petrol on way home from work.

OH and DS3 booked in barbers for Saturday. Their barber has a very sophisticated booking system. It’s quite expensive too but DS3 is at an age where he is getting very particular about his appearance. Total cost will be £25.

Good number of NSDs, I am rubbish at those.

The end is in sight Alice...you’ve been a marvel for the last 8 (?) years....an inspiration with your tenacity x
  • Aww thanks brizzle.  Yep 8 years and a few months. :-)
Last weekend we had a few spends. We had a take away on Saturday night. DS had new leggings for footie. Shopping was £103!!
We are up to 8 NSDs. Today we have to pay works lottery and will get petrol on the way home from work.
Im off work today and tomorrow as it’s half term. I promised DS3 we do something. I’m thinking going to the cinema. I know it’s not free but that would be our little treat. Nearly all the free events around here are outdoors and I don’t really fancy that.

  • Hi Alice,I've just caught up on your diary again, you've done amazingly well and I thought you might like to know that you inspired me to get rid of my tumble drier last year,I had broken and couldn't be repaired so I was just going to buy a new one but I decided to keep on trying to peg out instead, luckily there is only two of of us and at some point in the not too distant future there will just be me so it is easier but I haven't missed it once,I hang the clothes in the spare room when it's wet and they dry in no time,I'm thinking a wet summer might be a challenge because the heating won't be on but I am up for the challenge 😀

  • You are right @Onebrokelady wet summers can be harder than winter to dry the laundry inside. We have overcome this by using a dehumidifier in the same room as the wet washing, works a treat.

Awww thank you..... I’m so pleased the pegging out has worked for you. I’m. It does drive me mad having all the washing hanging round the house but as long as the room is well ventilated it works a treat.  I pegged out over the weekend, even a couple of hours can make all the difference. :-)

Hi BB, I must admit I never thought about a dehumidifier. I do make sure the room is well ventilated, much to the delights of the rest of the family. :-)

  • Talking of pegging out, I did put washing out on both days over the weekend.  Even if it is only out for a couple hours it really does make a difference.
We are up to 12 NSDs. I’ve trying a different approach to shopping. I’m doing a big shop once a week and seeing how that goes. Armed with a list and a meal plan hopefully we’ll have everything covered.
We have to have some work done on the house. Just waiting for a quote. It is essential work to repair damage caused by the weather so fingers crossed it’s reasonable.

@Alice_in_Poorland I can't get anything dry outside this winter!  I hung out a couple of things on the line last week and the rest indoors on the drying rack, and by the time the inside stuff was dry there was no change to the outside stuff - and it wasn't raining.

I do a big shop once a month with once a week very mini top ups, but its just me to I guess that might make things easier to plan and buy for. It really does save on the 'go out for milk, come home with half the shop' issue though.

I have a tiny utility room, more a cupboard, very narrow but it's where the boiler is. It has a very high ceiling though and my old fashioned airer, (Sheila maid) on a pulley works a treat. I do have a fan there to prevent condensation and mould.
