  • Oh Guys I am so sorry I haven’t got back to you after you left messages on my diary. I hope that you are all well. I have on a number occasions thought about you all.

I didn’t realise exactly how long it has been since I last posted.

Quick update........still in debt, surprise surprise. We went to visit DS1 last year. That cost £3K in total. We borrowed the money off my parents so we’ve been frantically paying it back. Currently owe £1K. Our debt figure without the 1K is just under 7K.

When I came back from out trip I just went on a downward spiral mentally. Everything seemed so overwhelming. It has taken me a little while to get back on track. But I’m back at it and hopefully we can make a major dent in the debt figure this year.

Me and OH are still together. I’m still pegging out at every opportunity, and we’ve left the heating off at every opportunity too.....but haven’t let the house get damp or too cold. Christmas was a lean affair but everyone had a fab time on a very tight budget.

I’m trying to do a bit more self care. I will be having my hair done on a regular basis, but it will be budgeted for.

I will do a proper update on the debt figure. Currently trying to pay £500 per month off in total.

Anyway better go to work. Hope everyone has a good day.

    Xx

    Welcome back Alice!

Wow, sounds like it'll be all paid off this year then, just think how far you've come and what you'd like to do with that £500 a month once the debt is gone!

Oh Alice, I'm so glad to see you back. I've thought about you often and wondered how you were.
Did you go to your son's graduation? I hope you had a wonderful time. I'll be looking out for your posts and will be cheering you on. Paying your parents back 2k already is marvellous.

  • Welcome back Alice...
You are doing so well with the debt busting.
Sorry to hear you were on a downward spiral, I'm glad you are coming out of it now - please keep posting so we can all support you.
  • Thanks everyone, steerpike, puzzcat, Elisheba & Ming. I feel very humble to have such lovely messages.

HI trish. What would I like to do with the money once we’ve paid the debt off........good question. I actually find myself thinks that being in that situation very scary, and daunting. We need to some work to the house, major maintenance to be fair. Not just decorating, a bit more than that. So save and get all the work done, and I’m not sure then. 😊

Hi V, we did go to see DS1, but missed his graduation. We had a fabulous time. I’m so proud of what he has achieved. He’s fundings himself now so that has made things a lot easier. It’s been a tough few years, but worth it.

Hi EE, thank you, I’m going to try to keep updating on here. It certainly does help.

  • Haven’t really counted NSDs but had 4 in the last 7 days so not too bad. Last weeks food shop was £45. I did some really good meal planning and have used loads of stuff out of the freezer. Don’t think it will be as good this week.

We’ve got a few birthdays coming up so need to budget for them. What do you get teenage boys?? We’re off to one this afternoon. Bowling and a burger, so that will be DS3s tea covered. I’ll take my cup of tea with me.

I’ve pegged out as well this morning, through the frost.

Must do meter readings tomorrow morning.

Right off to get ready. Happy Saturday.
