    Debt-free and Proud!
    Hi Alice and all

Just catching up on the goings on in Poorland after a few days away for work and stuff. Sorry to hear you've been a bit up and down. To be expected though I guess as its a hard job sticking to the budgets and money management day in and day out. Gets a bit wearing huh

The flapjack sounds good. We are making Nigella's chocolate cookies most weeks now. They are good. Got some free chocolate bars in a local shop today as well as part of Fairtrade Fortnight..7!! Can't be bad and they will go down well in lunchboxes.

Rather than buy bread today I put a load of rye bread (we had some rye flour so I am using it!!:rotfl:) on in the BM..hope it'll be OK so I will grab a sarnie now. Then off to meal plan....stores are going down quite a bit... so baking and cooking of sorts! Its a dogslife - you should try the baking thang..it is good and generally cheaper than bought stuff!!

NSDs...well thats a different story. Managed one on Saturday but apart from that its been a blooming appalling hit rate in the Brizzle household:o Must try better

  • Brizzle - mmmm.....free chocolate. You are so right, it does get a bit wearing :o. Hope you manage a few more NSDs.

Had a busy night, cooked dinner, kids sorted, had a bit of a tidy around the house, done 2 loads of washing (even though it is supposed to rain tomorrow), sorted some paperwork, then all I wanted to do was eat so I've taken the dog for a walk (about an hour) whilst OH, DSs and DS1 watch the football. Shattered now so shower and bed I think before I start eating!!!! xx

  • OH has got a bit of a strop on because he is tired. When I am tired I go to bed early, I don't stay up to read, or watch football or programs that have been recorded I go to bed to catch up on my sleep.......aarrgghhh  ..........rant over.

On the debt busting front we have got a A1di voucher so going to do a list and bulk buy the things we get from there ie washing up liq, sugar, kitchen roll, cat litter etc etc and OH (if he's not too tired!!) will go on Friday.

Today is another NSD but tomorrow have to get cash for birthday collection at work and sponsor money for school.

Hope everybody is having a good week. xx

Me too, I want an A£di Voucher please !! I think I read DFW had one a few weeks back as well, where are you all getting them from ? :D

Sorry Alice, demanding a voucher before I even say hello, how rude of me !: :o

I have just caught up over your last few days, I'm so sorry you have been feeling low and fed up, it happens to us all. I mentioned in my diary that I ended up in tears at the weekend as well, I was blaming it being DD1s birthday but I 'm not so sure. There does seem to be a link though, between the days I get upset and important family times, birthdays , christmas etc, I think maybe thats when it really hits home the muddle we are in, but we will beat it and get there, somehow , someday ! The diary really does keep me going, as you too have mentioned and the lovely pots !! The whole money thing I find is very wearing and time consuming, but the satisfaction when you pay something off however small, or as you say, finally seeing a bit of money in a savings account for the first time since goodness knows when is worth all the stress !

You are doing so well Alice.......... oh and re NSD's in MArch, it looks like none of us are doing very well with those this month !

  • brizzle and Pinot I think the voucher was in The Sun newspaper. My OH came home from work with it and it was already cut out of the paper. Its for £5 off when you spend over £35.....sorry is that just rubbing it in :o. xx

  • Hi Alice,

Hope you are feeling chirpier - I definitely like you felt very low last week. My problem is I have no patience, I want to be debt free and I want to be it now. This is probably a clue as to how we got into this in the first place :p I want, I want, I want. Debt busting and scrimping and saving gets boringly repetitive but that is the joys of the diaries that we can vent, let it all out and carry on :o;)

I have a feeling I have lost about 1.5lb this past week. Had a bit of a wobble yesterday and feel really tired and lethargic and headachy today - that's probably chocolate for you
    Just keep swimming!
  • Itsa - Well done on the weightloss, thats fab :T
I know what you mean about debt busting taking over your life, but I do love my diary. I can't wait to see some sort of dent in our debt. It's taken about 4 years to get into this mess and current estimate is it will take 14 years to get out of it :eek:.

A1di list all done :). OH still in a mood tonight but is still going to A1di tomorrow. I did say this month would be tight as we had to tax both cars before the 'car tax pot' had chance to grow. We start paying council tax and water rates again next month so need to stick to budget.

I've had a good week eating wise and hope I can follow Itsa in losing some weight. Think I'll get on the scales on Sunday morning.:o

Friday tomorrow, this week has just flown by. xx

  • A1di shop was a great success. OH was pleased with himself, spent just over £36 and then got £5 off. I've just got to go our usual supermarket for cereal, bread and a few things that we just have to get from there, that should be about £10ish. Have done meal plan for week and can't believe we will eat for a whole week for under £50, don't think we've ever done that. :)

OH has snapped out of his mood, I think this debt busting emotional roller coaster effects him more than I realise sometimes.:(

Going to have a tidy up this morning, have already pegged 2 loads of washing out. Feeling 'OK' today. Hope everybody has a good weekend.xx
