  • Quietly creeping back into the forum...... sorry no post for ages. RL has just been so hectic, chaotic and emotional. We've had people staying with us last week, we managed to get away over the weekend and the car has broken down on the way back.:o

On the money front, 5 creditors all set up and have been paid again this month. One of the outstanding ones is Bcard loan. I've received a letter to say that as there hasnt been a payment made over the last 60 days the account will be moved to active debt recovery. It's quite bizarre that the sort code and reference I have been trying to get so I can pay them is actually on the letter!!

We have spent more than usual over the last week, weekend away cost £60 plus food and petrol. We had a meal out last week, and spent extra on food and entertainment as we had guests. We've got a family meal tonight as DS goes tomorrow (won't mention it too much as I just start filling up), I need to go and get food for tonight......but then we are back to 'normal'.

Car is at the garage, loud knocking noise.....enough said. Expecting the worst but we'll see, fingers crossed.

I've worked out that extra childcare will cost £180-£200 this summer.

Figures for July are out of the window.

    Hi Alice
Hope you're Ok? I was thinking it might be an ideal to have a look at History Buff's thread as she's had a lot of success with having offers accepted at around half to a third value outstanding.

Hi V, I haven't seen that thread. I shall have a look for it. Not sure when we'll be in a position to over any amount but I do need to get my head around This.

    Thank you.

Hi brizzle, love the pegging put. Although I was saying it was slightly too warm last week and the washing was drying to a crisp.:rotfl:

  • The car is going to cost £400 ish. Getting a second opinion. One step forward, three back.

Little spendy day today. Purchased DS3 a new jacket £9 in the sale, original price £22. Picked up some food bits £18, petrol £30 and a birthday present from The Works. OH had hair cut too £9.

Feeling tired today. Had a blood test last week, not anaemic think it's just life. I'm having to give myself a kick up the backside, I need to get on with things and bust this debt!!

    Debt-free and Proud!
You're doing really well, and some months it just happens....but at least when you self manage the DMP you can do some shuffling better...

I am having a spendy month too..some things have been forecast, some haven't. And I am supposedly on top of it all.... My worry is that I am FL and in theory am not sure when the work could stop or go to someone else. OH calmer about work this week and less likely to walk out, so that's a relief!! :)

Here rooting for you Alice xx

  • Thanks brizzle. Glad things have settled for OH too.

I am just about back to 'normal' re spending diary/budget etc. will make mahoosive effort with the NSDs in August. Still waiting for final bill for car. Hopefully ready Monday or Tuesday latest.

I have started another pot to save for DS1 flights for Christmas. Will have to use the emergency fund to put towards car so will start that up again from Thursday (try and save £29 (strange amount I know:)) per week).

Got 2 loads pegged out, drying a treat.

DS3 off to a birthday party. The boys Mum put a note in the invite saying that if we wanted to send a gift could we instead put a £2 coin in the card. She does say that please don't feel the need to send a gift or the £2 coin, just have fun at the party but the boy is saving for a particular game. I have had something similar to this before but cant remember if I put it on here. This particular boy has 4 older brothers so there must be a house full of toys. Wonder what the other Mums think?

OH might play cricket tomorrow.....if they need him (hope not £10 saved :rotfl:). We're not out tonight so quite a quiet weekend.:)

I hope you've congratulated yourself loudly Alice. You had the emergency fund ready for the car and you saved for your son's flights AND as usual you kept all the balls in the air. You have been brilliant.
Is your OH still on board with the debt busting? Don't forget to factor in some fun for you!

Aww thanks V. Making me blush. DS did do his fair share too. Yeah back on track now...just about. Just got extra childcare to pay for this month.

OH is hanging on in with the debt busting.....just! You know what he is like. :o

Car came to £524 in the end.

Yesterday was NSD1. I'm not counting the extra childcare we're having to pay. Some of it is paid cash, some on line. Don't think that is classed as cheating, is it?:)

  • Still only on 1 NSD, yesterday I forgot to note I'd paid into a birthday collection at work £5.

Spent £7 at lunchtime, visit to the pub with work folk.

On the way home from work I got petrol £30, spent £14 in cheapy shop, £44 in supermarket, £19 in DIY store - did buy something extra whilst in there, king size bed set 100% cotton £9 absolute bargain, not necessary but a nice treat :)

I've got the rest of the week off now. Nothing planned as such, aim to keep the spends to an absolute minimum. Tomorrow morning will update spending diary/budget.

  • Thanks V, first this it was lovely, managed to get to the park with DS3 and peg out bed sheets and get them dried.

Rain stopped play this afternoon, so I updated spending budget/diary. Transferred £29 in savings and £50 to DSs fees.

Have got payment details for all debts now. This month everybody will be paid the same amount as when we were with SC.....except bcard they will get £25.

Next weeks childcare will be £80.

    Today was NSD 2.

Another day off tomorrow, kids having haircuts.
