F&F £250??? Perhaps as a starting gambit. Don't people suggest half the outstanding balance is often accepted? So £375 ish. Dunno if that's possible.brizzledfw wrote: »
Think a F&F might be a good idea..EE, do you have ideas? But not sure you have the spare cash Alice? You don't want to go too tight that's for sure.Eager_Elephant wrote: »For a F & F the general consensus is to start low so £200 or £250 and then work from there - usually they accept 50-75% of the debt unless the debt is really old and then they can go as low as 20-30%,.
You could offer F & F of £250 and if they don't accept put them on token payments.
Although I think you have already sent your offer letters to them.
Hopefully the difference in payment to Barclaycard can be saved ready for some F & F's.
I love the posts strawberries etc.....anytime.:)
At the moment unfortunately we don't have the cash to offer F & F. I've got to get my head around F & F. In my head I've had the money and spent it so therefore must pay it all back. I'd always be worried they'd come looking for the rest of the money at a later date.
Can I just pay them what they had through SC for the next few months? I need to get our emergency fund built up again, pay for DSs flight back (the money he earns whilst he's home should go towards the hefty school bills he has to pay when he goes back), and get car through MOT (fear the worst but fingers crossed). I would really love a few days away before DS goes back too. Would only be camping but don't want the other two to miss out.
Thinking about the summer, we have 3 full weeks of childcare to pay for.
On the money front, I've lost track of my NSDs. Have done meter readings and we £25 in credit. Supplier read the meter last week and have reduced our DD by £10, going to put that in the emergency fund each month.
OH playing cricket today (fathers Day treat:D), kids gone with him, doing Sunday roast so hope they're not too late. Lol.
DS3 staying school dinners this week. Not very MSE but......:o

Sounding good Alice.
You shouldn't be worried about them coming for more..if you were to agree a F&F in due course then thats exactly what it is. A final act to clear the debt. For ever. So think about it, as surely its worth it to get that overall total down.
Hope dinner was lush. Am sure it was.MFiT-T4 Member No. 96 - 2022 is my MF goal

Grizzle, thanks for that info. I think it will be a while until we get to the point of offering F & F's, but it is certainly something to think about.:)
Have still got 3 accounts where I haven't got the account details to make a payment. Tried to contact bcard loan people and have been put on hold twice for ages. C@pit@l one, different account number on letters from the SC information, no sort code and the same with S@ntander CC.
Next month should be a lot better, will hopefully have all the account numbers and can pay the £475 out over a 3 week period, and put into the saving account the money we don't pay bcard.......that is the plan!!
Have had a couple of NSDs this week. Tomorrow will get petrol and top up food shop.
Have got a day off tomorrow, school closed for polling. Will take DS to the park.....it's free!! Hopefully get at least 2 loads pegged out.
Got a refund from E0N, £23. Will transfer that to the savings (aka emergency fund, DS flights and living expenses fund).
Loving the light nights, managed to sweep the drive, pull the weeds....that I swear weren't there this morning.

I have only paid bcard £25. Still need 3 account numbers, will have to try again tomorrow. One is a bit tricky as they are only open office hours. I never normally want to receive a letter from these creditors but on this occasion I'd wish they'd get in touch. :eek:I will have to write to them again if I can't get it sorted beginning of next week.
Spent £67 in supermarket, £30 petrol and £8 (whatever it is) on a prescription. OH went out last night, took £25.
DS3s school shoes have worn out at the front, he hasn't had them very long. I was banking on them lasting until at least the end the school year. He'll have to wear trainers if it's raining and if we patch the shoes he can wear them if the weather not too bad, embarrassing or what.:o
Out tomorrow at a fun day, will take a picnic. Just need to get a few extra bits that I didn't get when I went shopping. Cost £5 entry.
Have pegged out this morning but it's got wet, haven't done any housework and the place desperately needs a quick tidy round. Kitchen is a disgrace too. Need to get my act together!!

Yesterday we had a lovely day, the rain held off, kids (all of them:)) had a fab time, apart from entry fee £5 spent £7.50 on ice cream.
Coloured my hair last night (have to use 2 boxes:eek:), can't wait until I can go to the hairdressers and have it done professionally. I know going to the hairdressers to have your hair coloured is not very MSE but it's so much hassle to do it myself!!
Have managed to do some housework, and tonight I've stood and ironed everything in the basket.
Forgot to mention that the car passed its MOT, although it cost £87. At least it's done.
Nothing to report on the debt front.

Just about V.
I've only checked on the store card I had and that came back with N/A. I really should/must do it. Worth a stamp or two!

I've contacted C@pital 1, they won't confirm the account number/sort code over the phone. They account will be on hold for a further 30days, they are sending me a 'form' which I need to return with copies of bank statement and wage slip.
S@nt@nder on the other hand have apparently sold the debt to Viking Debt Collecting Agency. Of which I have never heard of, and certainly haven't had anything from them. On the statement from Stepchange, it still say S@nt@nder. The last statement I received was for the last 6 months of last year, so I'm due one any time now.
On the money front, I've been paid :T, meal plan working...just about, DSs 2 and 3 having school dinners, like I say not very MSE but it seems to work at the moment. Had another couple of NSDs, but have lost track of the total for the month.
No pegging out.
Spends coming up, DS1s flights, his insurance and schools fees/housing top up. (He does have some money from working). The next two years are going to be tight.
Other spends coming up, summer childcare - DS1 will of gone back to his studies, and DS2 will be working his summer job.
