Agree with you alice about borrowing the money and paying it back, knew what I was doing, nobody twisted my arm , this was how I learnt from my mistakes. Keep going alice, the journey to being DF is a hard one and if at times things stink then you have my permission to eat a family size bag of choccies.xx

Forgot to say if there was anyway you could pay off any of the small amounts then that would be great and would probably give you a boost. Also well done on 16 NSD's a great achievement, wonder who holds the records for the most NSD's.x

  • Have just logged onto our DMP. Our DFD has now gone back to 2 December 2018 and current balance is £23,330.:(

Wondering could we can increase the payments to £500 after Christmas....not sure where I can claw the money from but just feel very frustrated now. Can't wait til it's all paid.

    Xx

Is the cause of the DF moving back because you have made some short payments or missed some?

I would be inclined to run it myself and offer the creditors less than what they get through the DMP and then put some aside ready for full and finals.

How many debts do you actually have? Are some still charging interest?
I have set DH up on his own DMP - I know I work in the same job but did it as though I was him so logged on to the DMP calculator and did his debt remedy and then printed the letters and set up the s/o's. All payments come out on 1st of the month and when a review is needed I just print a similar letter out with an updated FS.

PG runs her own DMP although hers is quite tough as she has no set pay day but I think you are monthly and DH weekly.

Have you looked at an IVA? I am not saying for 1 minute this is right for you as I believe that only about 1% of IVA's set up are suitable for the person.
The problem with this is that you can't take payment breaks and also you are expected to remortgage in Year 4 which makes the debt secured when previously they were unsecured.

If you decided to go it alone I am sure all us posters can help you and give you support.
  • What?!? It's raining, so no pegging out this morning. It is supposed to brighten up this afternoon...fingers crossed.

    :eek::eek:

I put some washing out early and some was dry by 10am so put another load out. When I went to check it at noon the sky was grey so I got it all in and checked the weather forecast:rotfl: - rain all afternoon.

I ended up putting the airer in DD's room (warmest room of the house) and dried the rest on there which took a few hours.

Today is supposed to be cold but no rain - I am hoping there will be a slight wind and I can get my washing dry.

I am thinking of changing my airer for a larger one - it was so lovely to use the airer!!

And as for the temperature, last night was very cold, kitten has to come to bed with us as she is so tiny still and I worry she will get a chill:rotfl:

How is everyone else doing with our tumble dryer/heating challenge?

Heating not on and hoping not to put it on until at least 1st November and we don't own a tumble dryer so always doing well on that challenge :D I could do with some brilliant drying weather as we have come back from holiday and now have 7 loads of washing to do :o

Hi amber, I've certainly learnt from my mistakes....big time. When the going gets tough I normally turn to alcohol or chocolate, alcohol normally being the cheaper option.:rotfl:

If I do the DMP myself then I will be able to pay the smaller debts off quicker and then in turn can reduce the number of debts. Think after Christmas will start to self manage.

Not doing so well on NSDs this month, today should be my first one.:)

Hi EE, we had to make reduced payments for the last 2 months, due to the cars etc etc. we've got 8 debts in totally, the smallest amounts are around £300 and £850 mark. All but 2 have had the interest held on the debt.

It is so easier with stepchange but they're isn't any flexibility. Even if I could over pay a few £'s here and there it would soon add up I'm sure.

Never looked at an IVA, not sure about the remortgage part, we've less than 10years on our mortgage so wouldn't want to jeopardise anything with the house. Once were DF we can chip away at the mortgage........imagine that.:)

I am nervous about 'going on my own', people on here have been absolutely great.....watch this space.:rotfl:

The temperature did drop last....but still no heating on, going to try to get to 1st November.

I pegged a load out quite late yesterday afternoon, it dried a bit but then I put the airer up. Ours goes in the hall as it's quite a big space and the sun comes through first thing. Looks great when people visit, there's always 'hold on a minute, won't be a sec' whilst we move the airer into the dining room.:rotfl:

Got 2 loads out this morning.:)

Going great BB, hope you've got some decent drying weather today.

  • Yesterday we did mega miles to get to the football match but we did call into a l1dl whilst we were out. Spent £40.10, probably overspent a bit as I hadn't done a list but even so I was quite impressed.

Have done meter readings, we are £62 in credit. :)

All homework done, money pots all sorted, budget updated. Still need to pay in-laws back and contact tax credit folk.

We do need some house maintenance doing before winter sets in. Have mentioned it to OH, who promptly started to make the one main job sound much bigger than it is!!

Today should be a NSD, the first one first October.

  • Phew that was close - nearly had to put the tumble dryer on:eek:
Went out for a meal yesterday and before we went I forgot to wash DD's PE kit, she remembered while we were out. The meal went on forever but when we got home I put a load on and luckily it finished before we had gone to sleep. I then put it on the airer and it was dry this morning!!

    Crisis averted.

Then tonight she has come home in the PE kit and spilt her tea down it:eek: and she needs it for tomorrow.
She is a girl after my own heart though - after deciding to wash her top she asks if the top is classed as a dark or light, I told her it was a dark (it's red) and when I asked her why she said 'I need to do a full load otherwise it's a waste of water'. She then proceeded to wash all the darks!

    Bless her!

Problem is I already have a load drying on the airer (it has rained all day so I could not hang out) - will have to hang it up instead.

Hopefully tomorrow will be nice and I can hang the rest of the load outside.

Has anyone else had rain all day?
