  • Alice, thank you - I've spent the past couple of days reading your diary, what a journey you've been on! I'm so impressed with your handle on the family finances & how much you achieve! I hope your DS settles in the U.S. soon - does he know when he is next home?

Next month, it'll be 5 years (60 months) until you're debt free, yahoo! You should make a wee chart and mark the weeks off, might help with the motivation & low days.

My Aldi is cRap for f&v too.

And on a lighter note, I can't believe how many tin openers you've got though in a year and a few months - I think I've bought one in ten years! Ha ha!!!

    *Subscribed*

Awww thank you. I admire your endurance.:)

I like the chart idea, when we were paying the car loan off I marked it off in my sig, mmmm 60 months sounds better than 5 years don't you think.

DS will be home for a few weeks at Christmas.......must start checking flight prices for when he goes back in the New Year.

I don't know what we've doing with the tin openers, we only use it to open a tin of tuna a week.:rotfl: So far this one is doing OK.:)

DS2 has been invited on a trip to a theme park in a few weeks so he's been saving his pocket money..........looks like he is learning that money doesn't grow on trees.:)

  • Today was just a LSD. We'd run out of cat food (As I haven't been to C0st0 for a while). Normally I would of gone off to the supermarket (out of town) and not only got the cat food but other bits that we don't need. So OH went to the local shop instead, just got cat food which was only 30p more that the supermarket and it would of cost more than that in petrol.:)

I've had a busy evening, cleaned bathroom and shower room, sorted washing off the line, tidied the kitchen and now going to chill. DS3 was in bed at 7.15pm, absolutely shattered.:)

DS1 has sent a list of books he needs for his studies, he'll get them there but I said I'd have a look at the websites see if i can find them cheaper.

  • OH's payday today.:) Spent £5.54 at sburys, £30 petrol, paid childminder and lottery and put £20 in 'leisure' pot. Tomorrow DS2 has to go to the barbers (hairdresser not coming anymore :(), OH going to get bits from HB's (shampoo/cond) and I've sorted some gold out so he'll see how much we'll get for it.

OHs had a bcard statement, we've been charged £12.64 interest so far. Not a huge amount compared to what we owe but even so......:(:o

  • Thanks mummy, OH did OK in town, spent £4.43 in HB's but they didn't have the shampoo and conditioner I've been using.:(

We got £55 for the gold (ring and bracelet), OH put £10 petrol in DS1s car (which will now be known as 'the other car' :)), DS2 had his hair cut, paid the window cleaner (keeping up appearances) so I'm going to put the rest in the emergency fund which needs a boost as we've been dipping into it here and there...tut tut.

The dreaded cling fim has run out......at last:), so whilst everybody is at DS2s sports club I'll nip to A1di, we need clingfilm, foil, washing up liq, handwash (to refill my posh soap bottles ;)).....and will get some food bits from there too. Need to do a meal plan first!!!

Will have to go to sburys at some stage, as well as food bits from there still need to get DS3s school trousers but they haven't had his size in the right colour recently. Also need to get school shoes.

Its raining so won't do any washing today.

Hi dfw, I'm going to call in on my way into work tomorrow and try and get them, if not I'll certainly ask about ordering them. I was quite surprised by the gold too. :)

DS1 is doing OK thanks brizzle, a little (well alot to be honest)homesick but I'm sure he'll soon settle down once he gets into a routine (fingers crossed). Everyone keeps asking him to talk as they 'just love his accent'.:rotfl:

  • Really need to update spending diary.:o On Saturday I spent £52 in A1di  only about £40 on food, the rest on clingfilm etc. Later we called into sburys and spent £29.99 exactly but £9.99 was on beer, also had to get shampoo and conditioner, got fruit and veg from there too (miss the farm shop but....).

Yesterday we went to a free music festival in the town. We parked out of town and walked in, took a picnic so didnt spend any money at all. NSD 5.:)

Today has been NSD 6 but really to sort out big spends coming up, 2 x car tax (one £140ish and the other £63ish), the other car needs to go for an MOT next week (wont tax it until its passed even if it has to be SORN for a month), DS2 and DS3s school shoes and get the emergency fund topped up.
