  • Agree brizzle, time to move on me thinks!

Had a major spend this morning......new car battery.:mad:
Have done a meal plan and just need a few things mainly butter, milk, fruit and veg.

We had AA home emergeny cover free for 6 months, now they've sent us a renewal, £100ish for 12 months so I called to cancel and straight away they offered 50% off, works out to £4.25ish per month. Which sounds OK but most of the things covered OH could and would deal with anyway. They are going to call back later and see what we think......I made an excuse that OH wasn't in when I spoke to them earlier, why I couldn't just say no!!!

Also need to speak to Sky, our special deal is coming to an end and it's already just gone up another £1.50 per month. This could be 'bye bye Sky'.

  • I missed the AA when they called back(had gone shopping) but we are going to say thanks but no thanks.

Went shopping, added dishwasher powder to the list, when we got back I took the finished box apart and got enough powder for another wash.........highlight of my Saturday night that was.:rotfl:

Really hoping tomorrow is a NSD, don't have any plans on spending any money.:)

    Must call Sky tomorrow.

Amazing how much powder can rattle around in them boxes:T

You are making good steady progress so well done - I made a flurry of overpayments when I got paid (26th) so now feel thoroughly skint which on the 4th of the month is not a good place to be :-(

And am doing shamefully on my grocery spend challenge ( seriously I think they will ban me from the board soon )

Much pulling up of socks required:o

Hi pwps, I did call sky, if we get rid of the TV we would save £22 per month. We could also swap our broadband provider that would possibly save some money but we would lose our email address if we left sky (not a major problem but a lost of hassle could really do without). Then there would be the landline to sort out. Going to have a think about it, OH not keen as he says its our only luxury item.......although we have been going out a lot lately which is not the norm. Going to have think about it.:(

    Hi brizzle, still plodding on.:)

DS going as the end of this week, still not sure how we are going to pay DSs sponsor back (DS funding most of it himself but we said we contribute when we could) but its an opportunity that he couldn't miss.

Hi scotdebs, I always strip the boxes down now......never used to though....all the powder I've wasted over the years. :o

I know how you feel, grocery spending is my biggest headache too. Every month I say right this month we're going to cut back etc etc, will have one less mouth to feed soon so that should cut the spending (quite) a bit.

  • Latest on the tax credit saga, we received a random payment of £9.29 but according to their records we have been over paid by £303........but this can't be confirmed until the review is complete......talk about confusing.

Tried to get through to the investigating office when I got home but then read the small print and they close at 4.00pm. I tried last week but it was always engaged. Think I'll send another fax.:(

Need to get petrol tomorrow, but today was NSD2.xx

  • Sorry your still having problems with tax credits.

    Well done on the NSD's.
  • Thanks pwps, I'm really trying to have more NSDs (I say this every month!:(:o) but it just seems so tough at the moment.

Finally got to speak to the tax credit review people today, 45 minutes on hold to the tax credit people to check the number for the review people was right (which it wasn't,it was the old number on the paperwork:mad:), then another 30minutes waiting to speak to a human in the review department.
Apparently a letter was posted to us last Friday confirming whats what........................but they couldn't tell me over the phone what the outcome was. So still no the wiser until the letter comes.

Have taken money from paypal to give to DS1 for a case for his trip and then going to change some £s into $s for him.

Need to get petrol tonight, and milk and bread. Off home in 5 mins.:):) xx

  • Tax credits is as bad as the tax office! We had a debt to the tax office on our dmp and now they've written it off and told us that they owe us money! (good for us....but I bet next year they'll realise that once again we probably owe them ) dh was also on the phone to them 40 odd mins waiting to be connected and they couldn't tell us how much it was for or when we'd get any money back! No surprises really eh;)
