Aw Alice, I'm with you needing a LBM for 'me'. I've got into the habit of slinging on trakkies & a vest top and chucking my hair up in a messy bun if I know I'm not going anywhere, I think in my head I look a bit grungy/Kate Moss-y & cool, but then I catch sight of myself in a mirror and actually I look twice my age (33 = 66) & like a bag lady.
I'm trying not to overwhelm myself though - I am working really hard on making extra ££ & overpaying my debts, my next (enormous) task is to lose weight & pay more attention to myself (body lotion/haircuts/nails/make-up/perfume/clothes) then I will tackle my midden of a house! I can't start all three at once, as I find they take up so much headspace! But I'll get there.
I really feel for you & your DS1, I hope he settles ok. I take it a trip out to visit is totally off the cards? Sorry if that's a silly idea, I can't remember your debt situation at present or see your signature.
XxxMBNA = £4,000 / Next = £925 (approx. tbc on 19/8)
Tesco = £2,910.11 / Smile overdraft = £500
Bank of Scotland = £2,782.830 -
Evening Alice,
Totally with you on the needing to get back to school, my kids are falling out constantly etc.
Weve got another 2 weeks off yet though !
Enjoy your week off xxMummytogirls x0 -

Awww thank you, the thing is I've been dressing like that even if I know I am going out...eek:o and I suppose I tend to put the house first, we've all go so much going on in ours lives I suppose its about getting the balance right.
Unfortunately there won't be any plans to visit whilst he's out there, he's back a Christmas for a couple of weeks though.:) xxmummytogirls wrote: »Evening Alice,

Thanks mummy, another 2 weeks, ouch! Is that when you start your new job too......best of luck.:)
Really looking forward to my week off.xxHi Alice so know what you mean about the making bit more of an effort - there are days I go to bed and realise I haven't brushed my hair since I got up:eek: the joy of long hair quickly scrapped into some ponytail arrangement
I'm waiting to get ds1&2 in bed then I'm cracking open the cider too -
Have a nice sat night
Thanks scotdebs, I love that 'hair scrapped into a ponytail' look, the only problem is I have too much hair and I always end up having that 'dragged backwards through a hedge look'.:D

Last night we contacted (wonderful thing skype:)) DS1, he looked really settled, I just about held it together, I really miss him (already and he's only been gone 2weeks!!) and it has made me even more determined to sort this debt out (so he can feel proud of us like we are of him) and educate the other 2 so they never make the same financial mistakes as us.
On that note I checked how our DMP was doing, I wasn't going to check until the end of the year but couldn't help it this morning (see no will power), the current figure is £28,604. The figures do need tweaking a bit, so will keep doing that as and when we get the card statements.
The weather does not look promising but I've pegged out anyway.
Have done meter readings and we used £34 worth over the last to weeks, but I've noticed the nights drawing in now and we've had to put the lights on. Will certainly be holding back on the heating for as long as possible.

Hi Alice! Another one here that dresses for comfort rather than to impress. My downfall are black leggings, I think in my head 'they make me look slim and they go with everything' in actual fact they are usually threadbare as i've worn them so much and make me look 'dowdy' oh well
I bought some straighteners pre-lbm (some lovely expensive ghds
) and perhaps I should use them a little more than I currently do! I also have plenty of make-up which never sees the light of day lol. I often fall into the trap of thinking 'i've noone to impress so won't bother' but actually I should be thinking, I feel better in myself when I make an effort so I will! Perhaps we should all have a 'new school term resolution' to make more of an effort
No way will I bother for the next week though :rotfl::rotfl:i'm on holiday (from the playground):rotfl:

Absolutely dfw321, just a little bit of effort will make me feel a whole loads better, but I'll be the same next week as I'm off work.
We did loads yesterday, vac'd the cars, I did the ironing, managed to trim the hedge and get about 1/4 of the borders weeded, snipped and pruned. Mind you ache all over this morning.:o
Yesterday was also a NSD, number 7.
Today we are going to tackle the loft, and DS3s bedroom. We should (hopefully) find some bits and pieces to sell/fleabay. OH is keen so better get going........hope everybody has a good day. xxDMP with CCCS started Jan12 £34,906 Jan13 £31,893 Jan14 £26,836 Jan15 £21,894 Jan16 £16,839 Jan17 £14,415 Jan19 £12,938ish Jan19 £9,649 Jan20 £6612 Feb 21 0 Self managed from Jan'17

Today has been full of mixed emotions. I made a real effort this morning when we went out, not over the top but so much so that DS2 asked if we were going out for lunch as I was 'dressed up', :rotfl:bless him.
Went into town, got DS2s shoes, trainers for PE and DS3s pumps £70 in total, gulp!
Nipped into sburys as we needed a few bits £14ish (inc cider), and put £30 petrol in.
I'm not a big FB fan put went on line this afternoon to find our 'friends' have put photos from the holiday that we were invited to go on, on there. Weather looked fab, accomodation looked fab, beach looked lovely, and I must admit I felt a tad jealous, but you know I have hardly heard from any of our 'friends' once we said we couldn't/wouldn't be going on holiday with them. Their loss!:(
Yesterday was NSD 8 but tomorrow 'the other car' is going for an MOT, have got everything crossed, still need to tax both cars too.
Also have to pay DS2s football club signing on fee tomorrow - £25:eek: and need £10 to put in birthday card.....keeping up appearances and all that.
Yesterday had a really good clear out of loft and DS3s bedroom, got some stuff for charity and loads of 'branded' toys to sell.:)

Well done for taking time for yourself and making yourself look nice - I bet you had a spring in your step all day :T
Remember that only the best pictures make it on to Facebook and what those pictures don't show is any arguments, stresses etc.
The pictures might look nice but was it really?
Would you all have got on or would there have been petty arguments? (My friend and her family went on holiday with her brother and it has all ended in tears)
If you had gone you would only have been worrying about money the whole time which might have spoilt the holiday.
I say not to worry about it and when you are debt free you can have a lovely holiday with just your family at a place you want to go0 -
Hi Alice, popping out from lurkdom today to say why don't you update your sig with that fab new total! Under £30K is a massive achievement :j:T:D
And don't get me started on the cost of going back to school :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:One small step for ME, one giant leap for my family!
2015 - my Amazon Gift Certificate mini challenge - saving to buy small household electrical items.
Total £9.120 -

Signature updated:D, can't wait to be below 25k now. (I'm so impatient!!)
I'm all done with school stuff now. I'm still recovering from how much DS2s school shoes were, hope these last the full school year like his last ones did...fingers crossed.
