If you are making token payments then they charge no interest but as soon as you pay more than they deem reasonable they charge interest of 1% (I think) a month.
I have told my clients to carry on paying token and pay off the other debts first.
If you don't speak to Barclaycard later I will try and confirm exact details after work.
Thank you EE, when we doubled our payment to stepchange they just increased our payments across the board. I didn't think we could ask them to withhold/limit the payments to certain accounts and I'm not sure I can self manage.:(:o

OH has spoken to Stepchange and apparently we can't change the amount we pay everybody. It was suggested OH calls Bcard and asks if they will hold the interest.
The balance is £1656.78, new payment is £21.52 although the are asking for £33.23, interest is £4.38 per month.

we've spoken to BC a half dozen times over the last couple of years and they refuse to stop the interest...apparently they charge a percentage in line with whatever you are paying them. We currently pay 4% interest i think. It's rubbish
i'm hoping DH gets his bonus this year so we can use it to get rid of that one! xx

We too owe BC a wopping £8, 000 and they froze the interest at 1st request and renewed the plan after 12months without us asking them to do so. Hooe I haven't witched us now.
wish they would treat us all the same, how much simpler debt management would be then

Thanks savvykaz and Granny, the balance on my card is just under 9K and although the payments have doubled there too they haven't started to add interest......yet!!!
Thinking out loud, what happens if I pay an bit extra here and there to OHs Bcard, say £20 a time?? I know Stepchange don't like you to do that but.......???
We've had our gas/elec bill today. The gas was £160 and the elec was £125, not sure if that's good or bad?

That was from Mid March to Mid June. E0n deposited the £192 back into our bank account this morning.:) I'm going to transfer it into the emergency fund. I wonder if they are going to change our monthly payment???
RE the 'healthy eating', I'm doing OK at the mo, I've even stopped having my cup of tea in the morning (saving on boiling the kettle for 1 cup too) to help keep off the biscuits. Although the porridge seems to be keeping the hunger at bay. Glad to hear you're having a good week too....we must keep it up!xx

Sorry to hear about the BC and the interest they are charging Alice. I am keeping my fingers crossed that they agree to freeze this when OH calls them.
BC are about one of the only companies we actually don't owe any money too ( hence business account is with them !:D ) but it does seem one rule for one and one for another. I am of the understanding that if you are on a DMP you cannot pay extra here and there directly to the Predators as St£pch@nge see that as favouring one Predator over another. I may be wrong though. Rather than overpay one or other CC company I put the addition amounts into an account I have called Full & Final ( very original I know) and build up money there to offer as a lump sum at some stage hopefully.. I know it doesnt help though if they are charging interest. If OH is succesful, plse remember to confirm the conversation in writing with BC. Sure I am teaching you to suck eggs there sorry .
Sounds like you are doing well with the healthy eating ( says Mrs PG whilst tucking into a choccy biccie again....oops !)LBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !
