  • Another sunny day.:)

OH has had his eye sorted at last. He's currently having a nap on the sofa.

The trip to the hospital was a 60mile round trip and had to pay £4 parking. On the way back called into sburys as OH needed some sunglasses (more so now because of his 'injury') and we needed petrol. Picked up some crusty rolls for lunch and chicken for dinner...its horrible not having a freezer.....and some other bits. Spent £11 on food and £16 on sunglasses:eek:. Then forgot to get petrol:mad:!!!

Getting quotes this afternoon for chimney and fuse box.

Going to check out the local paper when it comes out for a freezer, also keeping an eye on ebay as still no go on freecycle.

Forgot to note that OH can't get anybody at his works to sort out the 'bike to work' scheme. I know he doesn't want to rock the boat and they've just gone back to normal working hours this week so not sure where we go from here.

  • Finally got to call the water people, no going back if we switch to a meter.......which of course they recommend us doing...will have to think about it.

Got quote for fuse box, £220....will think about that too.

Also got a quote for chimney, £380 includes price of new chimney pot......I'm sure if we got the pot OH could do it.

Still no luck with a replacement fridge/freezer, it's been suggested we turn the one we've got off for 48hours and then turn it back on....not idea if it will work but got to be worth a try as the fridge bit still works.

Today should be NSD3, not going out today so will get petrol tomorrow when I go shopping.

Had another lazy morning, could get quite used to these.:rotfl: Me and DS3 just did some 'sticking and glueing' and had some lovely chats. Its great to see the world as a 6year old see's it.:)

Going to check cupboards and do a meal plan.

  • Hi All,

Like a lot of people on here I have been lurking on this site as a watcher for a number of years and during this time I have also watched our finances spiral out of control. Today I have had my LBM and oh boy could I cry.

I have just done our SOA (which I will post once I've got all the info present and correct). Without the morgage I think we owe approx 30K, we've run out of money this week and have still got to pay out £350 before Thursday (all direct debits), this shortfall has been caused by my OH changing to weekly pay and all the bills come out in the first week on the month (well partly, the other reason is just that we owe so much). Will ask the bank tomorrow for an extension to the overdraft.......I can hear the 'I don't think so' all ready.

Everthing is such a mess, our finances have spiralled out of control, I'm such a mess (could do with a complete makeover and dramatic weight loss), I can't keep up with the housework, the garden, the kids, Oh and I work full time too.

I am truly hoping that we can get back on the straight and narrow and sort out our money problems. Then I will hopefully feel that everything else that needs sorting easier to tackle.

Apologies for rambling on, I'm just feeling very alone and like a complete failure at the moment.

I'm new to the forum, but I really hope it works out.

It would be wrong for me to advice, but good luck and try not get down my dear

I really hate money and the affect it causes.

    gd luck.

    graham
  • Thanks graham, we're getting there.....slowing and not without the odd hiccup....but we will get there.:)

  • I sorted all the cupboards and fridge.....we all ended up having something different for tea but at least all the odds and ends used up and no waste.:)

Have done a meal plan to last over the weekend.

Fridge (fridge/freezer) emptied but I noticed the ice trays were frozen in the freezer bit........have googled it and it says the auto defrost might be blocked/stuck on........currently turned off for 48hrs as had already been suggested to us. Fingers crossed. ;)

We did have the heating on today but it's off now.

We call that pot luck tea, the kids used to like it, better than proper tea, as they used to say and the primary school i work at usually do this on the last day of term. Feel sorry for the last kids to go through cos they dont usually have a choice, just what evers left.

Even though it was blue skies today it was very windy and cold so heating on, especially as the kids are off school.x

Thanks amber, I could put 'pot luck tea' on our meal plan......at the moment I put 'midweek surprise'.:rotfl:

So far the heating has been off today, we've really tried hard this winter to keep the gas/electric bill down but some days I can't cope when the teeth keep chattering.;)

  • We've had a busy day today.

Me and DS3 went to town, spent £9.73 in HB's - got a b'day gift, new can opener, cocktail sticks and some bottled water for our trip to the park (as I'd forgot drinks!!) and some toiletries.

Spent £2.26 in the card shop, got cards for April birthdays. Spent £2 on parking.

    Went to the park...another £2 on parking.
Had lunch - £6.36 for the 2 of us.

Then to sburys and spent £37, got petrol £20 and nipped into A1di spent £4.76.

OH off out tonight to see a tribute band, ticket cost £6. He's driving so should be cheap night out drinks wise, hopefully just a fiver.;)

Wow how easy is it to spend nearly £100!!

Football training tonight for DS2 and DS3 so won't bother to put the heating on as we'll be out until 8ish.

  • We've been out today to DS1 and DS2s football, we've done 75 miles in total so we will need more petrol to last the week, should of put £30 (not £20) in yesterday.

OH had a good night, total spent - £11.:)

Update on pots - £2 pot upto £58 and 20p pot upto £41.:):)
    NSDs - 3 so far.

Thats what annoys me these days, just doing day to day activities uses all the petrol. I remember the days when we could go the beach or go on two hour trips without worrying and having to buy more petrol. Am going out tomorrow and even though i'm not going that far, i will have to stop to put some petrol in. Not been able to stick to my petrol budget for sometime.

Well done on your little pots,i have a sealed tin which i save jan to june then one july to dec. Know i have'nt been as good these last couple of monthes by putting any losechange in my tin.x
