When do you put up your tree and decs?

You have a pram being delivered?
Give it 2 or 3 years - your now belly bean will be wanting all sorts of xmas nonsense decorations... you're a tougher mum than me if you can resist your first born begging for a tree, plus he/she will have all sorts of special home made deccies - at which point you just give up, let them decorate the tree, and think about how you will miss their enthusiasm once they grow up a bit....
No you really will miss it......
Obviously once I have children I'll probably enjoy Christmas again, but I do feel that Christmas is for children and probably why amongst other crap things that have happened over the festive period in my life that I don't like it.
I still don't think having kids means your house has to be like Santas Grotto. When I lived at home there was a house near me who covered there entire outside and garden with flashing decorations, and kept them on 24/7 from November until January. Their neighbours had to buy black out blinds to get to sleep at night. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
For me they go up a week before Christmas and come down on New Year's Day because it's all over then as far as I'm concerned.
I saw a chap down the road getting his external lights up over the weekend.....I just don't get that, it's early bloody November!“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

This year it will be up on the 3rd as we are having a little family xmas party as my inlaws are going to New Zeland to see their other children and grand children, so it feels fitting it should be up then.
Normally I would leave it to the following weekend though and down straight asap usually on the first0 -

The trees in my house always go up the first weekend in December. We have to have fake trees as we have 3 male dogs and when we tried to get a real tree I caught one of my boys cocking his leg against it!!:rotfl:
I love putting my decs up and making the house look festive, the front room looks lovely and cosy at night with just the tree lights on!!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Last year it was mid December as I remember, back when I was single my tree was a cheap twig from Tesco with some inhereted lights and a stack of discounted bawbels. I plugged it all in and the lights had all blown- every single one. My fiance thought the tree was terrible and the lights needing replacing was a blessing in disguise, we bought one with lights, decorations etc for £25 all in and it will get an airing again mid DecemberWho remembers when X Factor was just Roman suncream?0

It'll go up about half-way through december and will be taken down about a week after New-Year.0

WE alwys have have a real tree, the fireplaces/ mantle pieces in the reception rooms and kids bedrooms decorated and a string of 24 baby socks filled with sweets as an advent calendar strung along the bannisterPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

My OH won't let me put the decorations up or listen to christmas songs until the 1st December. I don't normally mind this but for some reason I'm getting a bit antsy this year and feel like I want the tree up now, now, now!!
Might just have to make do with some christmassy scented candles for now and decorations that don't look overly christmassy so OH doesn't notice0 -
In the home of a colleague of my husband, their tradition is that they put the tree up when they see the Coca-Cola Santa Advert on TV for the first time each year as that, to them, means Christmas has officially arrived2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07
