  • I wonder if I can get away with having a tree just in the playroom/conservatory?

Wow I cant believe some people put them up at the start of December because Ive never known anyone in 'real' life to do that.

Mine usually go up the weekend or two before xmas day, depending what day of the week it falls on. Then it comes down on New years day or Jan 2nd depending again on what day of the week it is - i.e if I had to work on Jan 2nd I would take it down on the 1st.

So its up for a couple of weeks. Then after any sort of New Years party I cant stand the sight of it!

We put ours up 1st December and take it down as late as we possibly can, one year we took it down in April. In our defense, we'd had a really crappy start to the year with a death in the family, and we didn't want the prettyness and hope to leave us, so we left it up until we all felt better.

We love Christmas and we love our tree, we spent a decent amount a few years ago and bought a 7ft 6 quality tree and every year we are once more impressed with how nice it looks.

We don't put decorations or a tree up anymore...far too depressing.

Christmas used to be one of my favourite times of the year, can't get into it at all now.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

did it not seem weird to be opening an advent calendar without having any xmas stuff up?

Ours goes up no earlier than after the kids are in bed on 19th December. It's DS's birthday. Last year he wanted it up sooner but I'm not doing hat this year because he wants friends to sleep over and it'll be a complete nightmare! Besides which, if the Christmas decs are up, he doesn't get birthday decs like balloons and cards. DH tries to start sneaking cards up all through December and I keep moving them of the mantle as DS would have nowhere for his cards :o

I put my tree up the last weekend in November. I like to have the tree up ready for 1st December so I can chill out with the xmas lights on and my xmas music playing whilst lying on the sofa.....lush!!!

I have a real tree so can't put that up too early else it will be bald! I like to use real holly, foliage, christingles, that sort of thing - It just wouldn't last if it went up at the beginning of December

Wouldn't really want too anyway - I can't clean properly with loads of decorations about

Not that we actually have loads - I can't be doing with a load of tinsle etc - Won't even have coloured lights! Has to be white only

Gosh I sound a real scrooge!
